Hi all,

Anyone know if fiancee's birth certificate is needed when I submit the K-1 visa application to USCIS?

I checked the VisaJounry K-1 guide and it seems that I only need my birth certificate (or certificate of naturalization). It doesn't say anything about fiancee's birth certificate at all.

I heard fiancee's birth certificate is needed during the interview ONLY. Is that true?

That is all you would need. However, they may request your fiancee birth certificate if they want more evidence. A member received an RFE for her fiance birth certicate (Beneficiary).

If you have it , submit it. Make sure it is a translated copy.

I included my fiancee's certified and translated birth certificate, divorcee decree, and her marriage certificate from her 1st marriage to show where she had been known by another name at one time. She has all the originals with her. I know I went overboard. But what the hey?

we submitted my birth certificate.

We didn't include it and got a RFE for it.

If you have it, include it. It won't hurt your packet. Just make sure that aside from the original birth certificate, you have a translated copy (if the BC is not in English language) as well. I've seen others received RFE for that and RFE will be the last thing you want to get.
