Brown Envelope at POE

They told me (the embassy) that I could put the x-ray in with my luggage, I didn't have to have it to carry on. They sent the brown packet, that says not to open on it, with my passport when they sent the visa.

Should I have a copy of my medical results, my vaccinations and everything? I thought that would be in the brown packet and I would get it after POE. Am I wrong? Should I try and get that from Knightsbridge before I leave next week?

The medical results will be in your brown/yellow envelope, everything in here is retained by USCIS, you don't get anything from it. The vaccination sheet you should have been given at the medical. I received one for myself but not for my son as he was still awaiting his first Hep B (at our own GPs). I telephoned the Knightsbridge Docs to ask for a copy and they informed me that all our medical records were sent to the embassy...so no chance of getting it, basically. Knightsbridge Docs do not keep anything on record.

This wasn't a problem for sending in my AOS stuff though. I just took all my son's proof of vaccinations to a civil surgeon and he transferred it all over for me.

I wouldn't worry too much. :)

Well, actually they won't be able to give him a copy any longer. As I mentioned above, Knightsbridge Docs forward ALL paperwork to the embassy and retain nothing for themselves. All info goes into the brown/yellow envelope, including the DS-2053. If Rob is leaving the country next week then he has left it too late to get a copy. However, as long as he takes his vaccination history with him to the USA he can get a Civil Surgeon to transcribe it for him. Costs about $25.

It isn't a problem Rob, don't worry.

I'll try not to worry then!

I've kept my vaccination history, and I kept the form they filled in and faxed at my GP to confirm to Knightsbridge I had my tetanus done (I only found out I needed that after the exam), so that should be okay I guess.

I do remember reading here about a lot of people having trouble getting the forms transcribed for less than a small fortune, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks for the info.

Yup, there have been some problems with Civil Surgeons "demanding" that you pay for another medical. All I can suggest is shop around. I was recommended mine by another Indiana VJer and it only cost me $25. See if there are any other members who are from your area/destination and see what they say. Most are pretty accomodating! :)
