DS-156

Im currently filling out the DS-156 for my fiance. The checklist says not to sign the DS-156 (it's my understanding he will sign at the time of the interview), easy enough.

On the DS-156 it asks for the person filling out the form (which is me) to sign, do I go ahead and sign....even tho they don't want the beneficiary to sign until the time of interview?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think he will sign it in front of the consul at the interview... As for you signing the form as the one who filled them up, I think it's ok to sign it now...

Please tell me where on the checklist it says NOT to sign the DS-156, I know we're not to sign the DS-156K, maybe it's a consulate thing.

This is going to drive me nuttier, lol

Actually, the only things that must be left unsigned are DS 156K and DS 230 part II. BUT, some consulates would tell you to leave some other documents unsigned also. Maybe they just wanna make sure that you don't sign things that you're not supposed to sign....hehe.... I signed my DS 156 tho!

I stand corrected, it's the DS-156K that needs to be signed in front of the consul at the interview and as for the DS-156, it is ok to sign.

This is what the second part of my checklist says: Fill out, in duplicate, but do NOT sign, the enclosed Forms DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application, together with a single copy of the attached Form DS-156(K), Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application.

Im getting confused now, seems as if some consulates require it be signed and others have to be signed in front of a consular officer.

If this was on your checklist would you sign it or not?
