My fiancee has her interview in 3 days. today i found some really cheap plane tickets for 4 hundred dolars. should i go ahead and buy the tickets for 3 weeks later or wait until she has the interview. I dont know if the tickets will go up or not.

I would wait until the interview due to the Law of Murphy. Tickets will probably go up due to spring vacations. Just accept you will need to pay a higher flight price. It will be better than jinxing yourself and losing $400 should there be flight restrictions. Some airlines will allow you to make a change for $200 but most have a limit on the date for 30 days only.

Please please please don't buy them untill after the embassy.

I almost did this because I saw cheap prices but I got RFE'd at the embassy and had a delay - I would of lost the tickets if I had bought them!

I did end up paying about $500 more than I would of done to begin with but better than that ASWELL as the first plane ticket cost.

Agreed with the others. I know it's tempting, but DON'T buy tickets before the interview. I'm also resisting and it's really hard, but the real risk of losing sooo much money just isn't worth it.

Yes, that is the one way it could be done. Searching for the perfect ticket then contacting them by phone to get those details.

If you can get the tickets on flexible fare rules, then yes go for it. But ussualy deals are pretty limited and can only be used for when they are purchased.

Fare classes are ussualy designated by a letter code. This is seperate from the cabin class.

Yeah, change fees might be cheaper than buying a ticket at the last minute. When I changed my return flight from Tanzania, it cost $200 to do it, and that was for 2 international flights and one domestic flight within the States.

If you buy on some travel websites you have the option of buying travel insurance, its not too expensive, and then you won't lost the money of the ticket.

It sometimes covers a death or family emergency. Read the fine print and talk personally to a Customer Service agent. Most travel insurance does NOT cover if YOU cancel the trip. Just FYI. Ken

I would ask if the ticket is for a round trip. It is always a good idea to buy your fiancee a round trip ticket. There are many reasons why she might need or want to return to her country without getting married. Once she has completed the interview then buy a round trip ticket with a 90 day return. That way she is relaxed about coming and you both can make sure this is exactly what you want.

Just a little more patience will pay off.

This is true, read the fine print. Its only trip cancellation in usually only covered in specific events.
