I don't think so -- though you do seem irritated that I've pointed out the flip side to this conversation.

This thread was perfectly lighthearted and quite amusing until you came into it and started bitching about it. If you came in and started quoting funny/stupid things Brits have said to you about the USA, we would have had a good old laugh. If theres one thing us Brits can do its laugh at ourselves without getting all touchy about it.

Ok when i was in Orlando with my fiancee she said to me about Brits wearing socks and sandals, i said "what you talking about, its an American thing, not an English thing" so we had a bet the first to 10 on who wears socks and sandals, i won...more Americans wear socks with sandals...she was shocked

Why do you care so much? I'm not exactly sure you aren't a bit touchy yourself. And you have totally misread the level of anger or the lack of humor I might be experiencing.

I don't care about the thread - FFS Lisa started it! She's American! I know it was meant as a light thing and thus said so! I also stated an opinion and in fact, DID mention stupid things (not getting "proper" tea, stag parties around Europe, thinking Mexico is part of the US). I guess that's a breach of dr_lha code of netiquette. Quite frankly I find your response to that more annoying than the thread.

I have now left Tokyo and am now in Hong Kong -- I shall now go out to Wan Chai to observe the British male being idiot (and there will be a lot of them since the Rugby 7s are next week) and report back so you can laugh at your fellow countrymen.

I've enjoyed this thread a lot. However comments like that are irresponsible. Chalk up one more idiot.

weirdest question asked to me about Britian would be " Do they go camping " Weird?

Weirdest Question asked to me about Americans " Do we all have large helmets? " in reference to the genital region ;)

I think they must have been refering to a lot of americans being circumcised.

I'm not gonna comment on the way this thread is going, just going to try and get back on track if at all possible.

Funniest thing that happened to me a few weeks after I arrived here in Toledo. Normally when I meet some Americans for the first time(I work for Best Buy here, so happens a lot), I get asked 'Are you Australian?' or 'Are you British?'. Best was when I went into MickeyD's, the girl behind the counter serving me asked 'Are you from France?':lol:

Working at Best Buy you meet all sorts of people and I really enjoy it. I guess there aren't that many Brits in Toledo, 'cos most of the employees at the store are fascinated by my accent! Makes me feel special in a way(I don't want anyone to think that I'm pretentious though!). I even got told by one of the managers shortly after I stated there that one of the reasons they employed me was that I would be good at diffusing a difficult situation because of my accent! Loved that one!
