Delay for security clearance

Hi, I noticed others with the same Noa2 as myself were getting interviews, so I called the Department of State this morning. They informed me that the security clearance isn't finished yet. How long could this be.

My fiancee works for the City Government in Muntinlupa, south of Metro Manila. Her dad is a retired army colonel. Could this be the cause of the delay?

DOS checks are the norm for everyone, but some take more time than others usually because of false name hits. The more hits the more time to sort through everything. Hang in there, its frustrating becuase its something you have no control over, but eventally the checks will be completed!

The record I have heard of is 8 years. I know of another that was 3 years. Most however are 2-12 weeks.

Well, l hope we don't break any of those records. I just found it odd since the Manila Embassy says they have the petition, and I have a case number. Thanks for the replies.

The DOS checks are different from the USCIS checks that occur when the peition is still stateside. DOS checks start when the consulate has the petition. Hopefully they will be finished by the time the interview occurs. If not, it is standard to issue a 221g stating the visa will be processed upon completion of security checks.
