Going thru security, they swabbed my purple cast. I said, 'What is that for?' and they said they were checking for explosives  I bit my tongue and shut up, but I'm thinking, 'Do I look like I'm gonna blow up my foot?'

Jackie

Well, you never know??!!!!!

Not like I think you would . . . just there are others with different ideas.

After the major pat-down I got in Frankfurt plus the sip-and-toss of the water bottle (I forgot it in my backpack) and the extra questions on arrival Stateside, I am not surprised at anything.

Wow, you should have seen them pat-down the crying babies in Frankfurt, hehe, those babies were headed for my flight too and they barely managed to stop crying for part of the flight so some of us could get some relaxation time!! TG for the noise-dampening headphones . . . it helped me relax a bit more than usual!!!

I'm not sure which is worse, the crying babies or the 3 year old who keeps kicking the seat from behind. :crying:

Try 3 children kicking seats, pulling on the backs, screaming/fighting, climbing over everythng, feet stuck on the armrests of your seat AND the mother is sleeping thru it all . . . that was my first trip to Cairo 3 years ago, LOL! My friend was sound asleep and I couldn't sleep a wink . Each trip has it own special moments.

Hi All. I feel like I havent been here in ages. Hassan and I have been trying to rent Borat this whole weekend. No luck. I am teaching him to drive now, so I had him driving all over out city to different video stores. It was fun even if we didnt get the movie. We will try again tonight. Who else wants to rent a movie on a Monday??

The weather here is So Cal is awesome right now. Hot Hot Hot. Perfect. Even though it is a monday and there are 5 whole days until the weekend, I am loving life. We get to start the next steps now, AOS EAD, we are getting lazy and just trying to enjoy life together and the paperwork keeps falling down on our list. Bad Us.

Hope everyone is in good health.

Sherrie

We watched Babel last night. Good cinematography of Morocco, but I was disappointed with the film overall. Did you see it?

We saw it in the theater and both loved it! It wasn't your typical Hollywood fare and one of the most thought provoking movies of the year. I really liked how it dealt with the inability to communicate (as experienced in 3 totally different ways) and how all three of these scenarios were linked together.

Twila

P.S. It will be interesting to talk to my husband who is Morocco right now to find out how they stepped up security after the guy in the cyber cafe. He was planning to go visit one of his friends today who is in the military. I wonder if that happened.

Hi all...

Finally recovered from my overnight shift only to find it was Monday again

The cancer kids are so sad, and they're so cute and energetic and hopeful through it all. It's amazing... it just doesn't occur to them to be depressed or to give up. They might only have one leg to stand on but they sure as heck use it to run all over the hospital when they're up to it.

Kara, I'm so sorry to hear of your delay. Egypt SUCKS!

Maj and I both really liked Babel... but it wasn't very satisfying, in terms of all being tied together or loose ends being picked up at the end. But that was part of why I liked it.

Hideous Kinky isn't the best movie ever, but it brings you right back to Jemaa el Fna. I liked the book better (though of course the scenery in the move is better!)

You all HAVE to read Crescent by Diana Abu Jabber. I finished it yesterday. It's all about food and culture and missing home and trying to assimilate... it's a great book, with a wonderful love story a great story within a story.

Jackie, how much longer in the cast???
