I have to agree on roundabouts. Much prefer them to 3 or 4 way stop signs.

You've got to be kidding me. The roundabout is the most idiotic traffic control device that exists today.

Four-way stop signs are GREAT (unless you don't know how to use them.)

We live in a town where the average age is 60! When you're lucky enough that they can SEE the stop sign, they either sit there for half hour or slow down for it and if you don't go within 1 second, they do. It's scary!!

I can't believe I'm going to say it, but I miss the stupid pub quiz!

Damn you mags! :P

:lol::lol:

I miss quiz machines.

Ooooh.... I will miss quiz machines, when I get there, no doubt about it... I love those things. I've barely been near a pub all year (saving money), so when The Boy was over last week, and we visited lots of, erm, traditional english hostelries, I excitedly dragged him to have a go on every quiz machine I could find. Sadly he was totally bemused by all the UK-centric questions and got bored very quickly... much like I do when he makes me play the rubbish ones (that you can't even win any money on!) in the US.

He did love the pub quiz we accidentally ended up taking part in, though. Pub quizzes are fantastic things. Damn it, he needs to move here for the rest of the time before I leave so we can enjoy all this stuff (um, pubs) together!

I'm the USC, but I lived in London for a while with my fiance, and here's what I miss:

The shopping, especially of the cheap variety!

British comedy television

The Crystal Maze

Working near Oxford Street, crazy as it was

The tube

Exploring London

20 different music video channels that actually play videos

Well, just Sky itself

The accents

Good curry

The greenery and all the parks

The historicness

The diversity

Gourmet Burger Kitchen

####### seaside towns

TEA!! Cream tea, mmm.

Proper muesli.

There are plenty more, but that's enough for now. :-P

Neal (UK) and Cari (USA)

I miss the quiz machines too...never thought about that. Me and D could play them for ages...they're so much fun!

I miss the FRUIT MACHINES even more, but I always knew I'd miss those so I guess that's for another thread. Can't tell ya how many times I've dropped the £100 jackpot at our local. Easily 20 times. :D D wound up buyin me a Pirate themed fruit machine for our house...but it wasn't the same. Although the novelty was, when ya got on the board, I coulda swore the voice said 'way aye' instead of 'aye aye'

I am feeling a little homesick at the moment, its just part of the adjustment I guess.

I LOVE it here and I am happy, but I found my self missing things from home I NEVER would of thought I would.

Like pub quiz's for example.

Or fish and chips...I HATE fish, I don't want to eat it, I just want to see it being sold!

I also, rather embarrassingly miss Neighbours also!:lol:

What do you miss that you never thought you would from back home?

Cannt beleive I actually miss the weather, the green hills, sense of humour ( after u have explained things they arent sooooo funny) and galaxy chocolate :)

Tell me about it! Last week we had three glorious days of mid 70 degree temps...then two days of rain and then it dropped back down below freezing again! Next week we are due to return back to the 60s...which is normal for Indiana I'm told....

I miss quiz machines.

I know, imagine my disgust that I found out I would no longer be able to play Strike It Rich 3 sheets to the wind whilst making a succession of terrible Barrymore jokes with my mates.

It just doesnt seem right.
