YOu know when I first saw this question..I thought it was to easy...But then I thought about.. It's great question..

My first thought was... Well not if you stay at the airport.. but who wants to spend 24 hours at a airport..

Honestly I don't know the answer...but I would assume if you can show the travel Doc's that show you have a lay-over for a day..It would be fine... I guess if it was me...I wouldn't leave the airport.. I've seen alot of people setting up house at the airport..So assume they have along lay-over..

You have to understand... if you could leave the airport..wouldn't that be a good way for terrorist to pop in and out ? and not have to have a Visa ?

This is a very good question... I hope someone that knows..Pops in here to answer it....

Goto Delta website and look under visa requirements. They have an excellent website that shows from/to and in-between requirements. I would say yes, but, if you show, in some countries, if you show a plane tickets <24hours, you can get away without a visa. Check the website out.

I think it also depends on the airline your wife is flying with, and the airport that the plane lands in. I've traveled through London and had a one night layover, but I arrived in one airport (Gatwick...I think, I can never remember which airport is which) and the next day my plane left from another airport (Heathrow). Since the two airports are not close to one another, there is a shuttle bus that takes passengers from one airport to the other. I'm not sure if such is the case with your wife's flight but if so, she may need a visa because she will be stepping out of airport territory. You may want to inquire with the airline she is traveling with.
