Frustrated!!!

I just have to get this out, so bear with me please.

I picked Atif up from work at 3:30 pm yesterday, and he said he wanted to go to the gym...COOL no problem. I go back to pick him up at 5:30 and he says he wants to go out to eat...OK no problem. Then he starts telling me about his day at work--FINALLY!! [Let me back up a minute and explain that he asked to be off an hour early Tuesday to go to an appointment--he didn't tell them he was going to apply for a job someplace else].

SO anyway....he starts telling me about how his day was--and he's POed. Seems these people asked him why he had to leave early [ not supervisor] --it's truely noe of their business, but he tells them he had to see his lawyer [] then they leave him alone. Then during Lunch he's trying to draw and trying to practice Geomerty--because the job he applied for yesterday requires knowledge of Geometry and how to read blueprints--which Atif knows how to do.

This is the part that got to him-------they see him drawing and start saying that he's trying to make a bomb!!! Do you believe that mess?????!!!! Of course these uneducated idiots would think that. Just because they have no plans for the future, doesn't meant that somebody else thinks the same!!!

It just gets me so angry that SO MANY people are SOOOOOO stupid!!! There are so many immigrants that work there, but on the side where he works mostly Americans--and I hate to say this but STUPID AMERICANS!! Where are the smart people???

Yep. Its truly amazing, isn't it? I'm finding it terribly uncomfortable to have to swallow the fact that my fellow countrymen, in what is considered a developed nation, still drag their knuckles. I'm having to witness the level of exploitation of "foreigners" in the workplace and my blood pressure has been slowly rising.

That is outrageous. Excuse my language, but what a bunch of a$$holes!

Jumping off of Jane's idea above, you should find out exactly how they said it. Was it in a joking way? If so, even though it's inexcusable, you can probably chalk it up to a bunch of ignorant people thinking that jokes like that are funny. If it was an actual accusation, I would be worried about negative consequences.

It only sounds like victimhood to you, Aqoul, because that's what you want to see in it. I'm no one's victim and I didn't advise anyone else to be. What I said each time is a statement of fact, one that should be OBVIOUS to you since you can spot OBVIOUS from 50 feet. Don't waste my time pointing that out to you again.

I would agree with this . . . I think we need to quit talking about being stupid or ugly americans because of certain actions applied to ppl who live here when in fact there are STUPID and UGLY in every country . . . education has nothing to do with fixing this . . . I believe that every country has groups of ppl that generalize and don't want to understand more past the group mentality. Makes life easier to be part of the masses!

And, yes, I am sorry that you had to go thru this . . . it is a big fear of most of our SO's that when they come here the ppl won't like them or not treat them well. I was asked about this by the hubster so I know it is on his mind.

Maybe I should be more clear on my point...Of course Arabs were being discriminated aganist before 9/11 but you must agree that things are much worse now then ever before..whereas people may have thought about saying things before but never did...now think it is ok to say things...with that being said I do blame the current administration for the widespread fear and sterotyping that is going on right now...I can tell you this in my own experience...15 years ago the word Terrorists and MENA did not go hand in hand in my mind or anybody else I know like it does now (circa 2001 until now)..the difference between me and other people I know NOW is I took the time to find out the truth from fiction whereas most people I know still think that everyone from MENA is a terrorist or affiliatetd with such...Which is very sad...

one day my fiance and i were locked out of his house because he forgot his key and we had to wait for his parents to come home. i was soooo sick from the heat and we had just come from a 6 hour train ride from HELL in the hot summer. i was about to pass out. and his neighbor came out to see us. she seemed like she was about to invite us in. but when she realized i was american, she slammed her door shut and made us sit outside waiting for his parents to get home for two hours. this is no joke.

should i be saying stupid moroccans? never. i realize some are completely ignorant and some are kind and genuine. just like americans.
