Hi,

I'm very happy to find this website, I new to the whole immigration stuff. Here is my story I'm US citizen and my husband is Iraqi. We got married in Damascus, Syria last August. I filed for I130 and I129 F. Both got approved at the same time (I received both letters on same day!). I decided to go with the I129F since it's much faster to get the K3 visa. I called NVC and they said that they received my petition and it was sent to the embassy in Damascus. I learned that after the embassy receives the petition, they will contact the spouse (from the foreign country) and send him something called "package 3" which he needs to fill out and return before the interview.

The thing is, my husband lives in Iraq, How will they contact him? There is no mailing service in Iraq now.

Also, will NVC send me a letter saying that my petition is transferred to the embassy in Damascus and give me the DMS case number? I contacted NVC last week and they said that I will not receive any documents from them and that the embassy will contact my husband.

I will really appreciate all the help/advice,

Heidee

Have your husband to go to the embassy and pick up the packets. My husband did not have his information mailed to him, but he went and stood in the inquiry line and picked up all the information needed. He can also find if the embassy in Iraq has an email address and direct questions via email.

Thank you that all I needed to know. So he can just pick it up. The embassy in Iraq does not conduct interviews for immigration or visas ( I already contacted them)
