I don't understand the reason some things are done either. I wondered why we had file our I-130 first when we're planning to use the K-3 process anyway. Why not file the I-129F first and when it's approved file the I-130 knowing that we are going to pursue a K-3. In the end I think it's best to not try to make sense of the process. Just follow it as they have it designed and don't worry about 'why'. :) Good luck to you!

Y'all mentioned that it (I-129F) will be processed at your service center (in my case Vermont) even after being sent to Chicago. I accidentally sent my straight to Vermont, that was 3 weeks ago. I don't know what happened to the I-129F package I sent, so I today I'm sending a new package off... this time to Chicago. I'm just going to see which check clears first, then cancel the other. Don't really know what to do. So "why to Chicago," I don't know; I'm just doing it.

Her I-130

1-16-2007 sent

1-19-2007 NOA1

2-1-2007 Touch

4-30-2007 Approved

Her I-129F

1-23-2007 sent (but sent it to Vermont)

2-16-2007 resent a new package

2-26-2007 NOA1

3-2-2007 NOA1 (The one I sent to Vermont...Ugh)

3-2-2007 Sent to Vermont

3-6-2007 Went to "Satelitte Center" to talk about having 2 I-129Fs

3-7-2007 Touch

3-9-2007 Touch

3-12-2007 Touch

3-12-2007 Sent to Vermont

3-13-2007 Touch

3-14-2007 Touch

4-30-2007 Both approved

5-04-2007 The One I sent to Vermont is the one the goes to embassy from NVC

I tend to look at the profile info underneath people's avatars and not look at everyone's profile.... just like to make sure I understand intentions before offering opinions...

doodlebug,

Because, until quite recently, I-129f petitions for spouses were processed by the NBC. In an attempt to improve the overall efficiency of processing, and in conjunction with other processing changes, the USCIS has decided to try having the petitions processed at the same service center that processes the I-130. Further, they have concentrated the processing of I-130 and I-129f for spouse, and the processing of I-129f for fiancee, at just 2 of the 4 service centers.

Until the USCIS sees how these changes work out, it makes perfect sense to keep the routing changes internal and not change the established routine for the general public, which history demonstrates gets all confused when USCIS makes a change in its' procedures.

This is hear-say! According to one old timer, I was told that cases used to be processed in Chicago.

They would literally SIT at that office for quite a few months.

For "faster processing" these days cases are sent out to CSC or VSC.

Therefore - despite the long processing time we are facing now - this is luxury - compared to

what it used to be.

Wish us all well in our journey! - Good luck to you & yours!!

Asamu,

Beware of old timers who have Alzheimer's disease. The Chicago lockbox is little more than the incoming mail room for the National Benefits Center. Any 'sitting' that cases did was at the NBC proper in Missouri, where the cases are processed.
