Income Verification/Is Spousal Support Sufficient?

Hi! Newbie here (lurking for a while) and have a question I couldn't seem to find the answer to in my search.

I am not employed outside the home as I receive spousal support (a variation on alimony) that more than pays my bills. We will be filing our K-1 in the next few weeks and I can't seem to find out if that will be ok to use as my income. Do I have to have a job?? My income can be verified by court documents and bank statements etc. Will it be ok?

Thanks!!

Verifiable ongoing child support can be counted. I don't know why verifiable ongoing spousal support would not be the same.

Thanks for the reply.

Moderator: Why was this moved to this thread? Do you think I need to call a foreign embassy or consulate general to get the answer to this? Sorry for putting it in the K-1 thread since it was an important part of us filing a K-1, needing to know if I need a job or if my spousal support will do on the I-864, and thinking that someone else who has or is doing a K-1 might have the answer, I thought it should be on the K-1 forum!

It's soooooo confusing and kudos to all you who have done this!

To anyone who might come along needing the answer to this question, I thought I would post what I have found online so far.

From one site

Another, older thread

So, it seems that spousal support can be included. I will probably be verifying this with an immigration attorney just to be safe.

I am still wondering why this thread was moved to this forum. This is a K-1 question totally. The description for this forum

"You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here."

Does NOT fit my initial question/post at all!! We are NOT almost there!! We are just starting the K-1 process! I feel badly that someone looking in the K-1 thread might not see this who could either offer advice or might need advice in the same area.

It was probably moved because financial support (ex: I-134) is submitted at the time of the interview (at the consulate/embassy).
