I totally agree. I type enough with my work and here on Vj,(him too) I donnot type with my husband and neither does he. We both have cams and mics. We rather hear each other over the waves. We say more in less time then we would if we were typing away. He can interact with my daughter and vice versa. I can go about my homeworks too, while they chat. I can show him things and vice versa.

We still call each other, but with the cam/voice we now can have a limited budget of calling only when it's an emergency or just a ring to let the other know to meet online. Years before, I got my fair share of insane phone bills, but no more!

Only time we ever type in when we write emails. I cannot imagine we would talk as much as we do if we had no cam/voice. So I thank God for the cam!!!!

Doodle: $800? You call him from your cell? Don't you use cards or have a LD plan? Using the mobile provider is the worst. I use cards and this private LD company and I donnot call him from my mobile (emergency onlys).

Adounjen:

2 years! wow! you need to give me tips on how to be more patient with this process. its been about 8 months and i'm going bananas.

Well for one I never expected it to take this long so I was patient without realizing it. You have to keep saying to yourself "big picture". Its all I can do to keep myself sane. I have the rest of my life to spend with him so when you look at the big picture this process is such a small part of it.

On the topic of 'steamy chats' adding to the verisimilitude of your relationship: the last time I saw my fiance was over the Christmas break. While we were visiting my mother, she mortified me by cracking a joke about 'how about copulating on the interview desk, will that be enough 'proof' of your relationship?!'

My fiance thought it was hilarious and laughed at my shocked expression. <_<

Actually, our webcam conversations usually drift off into gazing moony-eyed at one another, and we never get anything done. We have to stick to IM so we can multi-task!

We used yahoo messenger to chat and play games and eyeball chat to look and hear each other. We used both at the same time. We chatted almost everyday except during Ramadan when he had to work. First web cam I had was an intel they are awesome web cams but they don't make them anymore.

Strangley, we got to a point while we were apart where we detested the web cams. Not because we didn't want to see each other, but because of the freezing, lag, and constant dudes peeking over his shoulder in the cafe. It was a horrible hassle and we just didn't need more stress so we got off the internet entirely and moved the last few months of our waiting to the telephone.

we used yahoo chat and video most of the time...when yahoo was down, we used msn video and chat... we didn't voice all that often coz he owned his own internet cafe and he always had to be "professional" for his customers. about once a week or so I would get him to voice chat for a few minutes...but as soon as a customer came, off went voice and back to typing... it was really hard ...

why pay 800 dollars?? You can go to ...i think the site is www.ppoutlet.com and get phone cards for 5, 10, or 20 dollars. Some even let you have 5 unlimited calls... definitely look at the phone card route..it is well worth it... the other site is ... www.therichcom.com... check them out!

we've used a webcam a couple of time but it got to be too much of a PITA, especially since not all of the PCs at the cybercafe where he goes have them, and he has to sign up ahead of time...with the recent power cuts in KTM sometimes it's hard to know when he'll be on to chat, so usually it's just plain Yahoo chat or email.

We don't do chats or cams either. We used to everyday. Now it's phone calls, which I prefer. I do miss cams though.

Just to clarify, the $800 or so was mostly from when I was in Egypt talking to my daughter/mother/sister each day. They were all so paranoid that I was gonna be kidnapped/killed that I had to assure each of them that I was alive a couple of times a day. Also, when they called me, it still cost me like $3/hour. Sucked!!!

Thanks, sweetie! Quite appropriate, no?

My hubby and I go in and out being sick of cams and lovin them. We also take breaks, and are on one now. You have to try to keep things fresh, and that's hard to do after nearly 6 years of doing this.

$3 per hour? That is not bad actually. Some countries you have to $1-3 per minute! For me I pay about 20cents per minute if I call him.

 Yes, very:lol:

And speaking of keeping it fresh. Does any ever get to the point, you have nothing to say ... just from the agony of hearing/seeing them in the NET but not being with them? Esp for those, like SZSZ said '6 years' .... having been going throu this for a long time. For me, this is my 4th year doing this... I am just about feed up! :crying:
