Ok so I have to get an adapter? do the plugs there look the same as here? I had that problem while I was in Germany. different plug style. Anyway, I think I will need it for 3 things, my cell, my camera battery and my camcorder battery. I don't think I will bring any thing else, except my iPod, but I think I can just use their comp to charge it right? Their USBs are the same right? I mean they are called universal and all.

Here is a link for plugs:

http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm

There USBs should be okay. here is a link with some basic USB info:

http://www.crucial.com/library/understanding_usb.asp

Expect the plugs & voltage to be different (better to be prepared). Ask what is available for where you are staying before you leave. Then check your equipment for voltage compatibility as you might need a transformer (please read the label)

I expect you will need adapter(s).

I hate hauling around all that stuff . . . so I have one I take for my phone which works on my battery recharger for my camera . . .and I let my hair air dry, LOL!!

I blew up a hair dryer when trying to use one of those adapters, so I decided to give up on those . . . if you stay somewhere long enough (and you can find it), it is easier to buy it there and leave it with the relatives when you go home.

That would be the transformer (and a big one).

To find out what exactly you'll need do the following: decide on what you want to take.

Take each of the appliances that you want to take and read the lable on it, it's really small print but will tell you all you need to know.

Usually the lable is located on the "boxy" thing that is somewhere between your appliance and the plug.

Read it and it will either say something like 110V~230V or 110V only.

If it says 110V~230V it is good to go in Morocco, you just need a little adaptor thing to make the plugs fit.

If it says 110V only (usually with hairdryers, curlers...) you will need a transformer, which will transform the 230/220V down to 110V.

As I said before, USUALLY the cellphone/laptop/cam charger things will go from 110V~230V, so are good to go.

short history:

2001 - met in Germany

April 2003 - fell in love

Aug 2004 - go to the US for internship

Feb 2005 - both return to Germany

Aug 2006 - getting married

DCF timeline:

09/01/2006 - filed the petition in Frankfurt

09/06/2006 - medical in Frankfurt

09/26/2006 - faxed checklist

10/05/2006 - received interview invite

11/01/2006 - INTERVIEW in Frankfurt - approved!

11/04/2006 - VISA IN HAND!!

12/21/2006 - POE San Francisco and ON TO SEA!

I don't know what you're taking that will need adapters, or where you're going, but hair salons are sooooooo cheap and good in Morocco that all I need at home is a curling iron. I visit the salon several times a week. They do all the rest!

I've done a lot of international travel and prefer "all in one" adapters:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=family

and for transformers here is one, only 11 oz. (notice the plug is already different):

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=family

Just some ideas. A quick trip to the store, or any store that sells electronic equipment will gain you lots of information. Just explain what you need, and where you are going. If your SO sends a confirmation of the plug type available (review previous link) you should be good-to-go.

This is a good idea too. Use what is available. Reduces the amount of things to take and may save $$$ in the long run.

general rule of thumb on transformers. there is always a data plate on an electrical item, sometimes it lists the watts, sometimes not. if it does not, take the voltage listed and multiply this by the amps listed to get an idea of what size transformer you need.

example:

110V 2 amps = 220 watts. last time i was in europe transformers were 75, 300, 500,750, 1000, and 2000. so a 300 would be needed for this item.
