Anyone know why the Irish Embassey will not take the 156k written in black ink? When my she went for her interview this morning, the officer told her it had to be typed? Can I fill it in for her over the net and em it to the embassey? Any info. would be helpful. Len

Len,

Probably because the Irish embassy has no interest in US immigration forms.

Try submitting it to the US embassy (consular section).

Taken from Step 1 of packet 3.

All forms DS-156 (I believe DS-156k to be included) are required to be completed in an electronically-completed format, available through the Internet. Hand written DS-156s (from what I read this includes all DS-156's' k included) will not be accepted.

Ron

P.S. I hope you meant the U.S. Embassy in Ireland

Not submitted Electronically since it (DS-156k) has to be brought by hand but it can and should be completed (((All))) forms DS-156 are required to be completed in an electronically-completed format,) on line and printed to be brought to the Embassy/Consulate, which is what more or less what the Embassy/Consulate is looking for.

Being computer illiterate the link below will have to be copied and pasted to work, it is the DS-156k form.

Ron/Sharon,

I see how you're interpreting it now, and I agree that your interpretation is the correct one. I was thinking that they were talking about the new electronic submission of DS-156, which puts the data directly into their data base as well as creating a printed form.

Hi Len, It is all legalise. When dealing with bureaucrats you have to think like them and read everything once, twice, and even three times wouldn’t hurt. The government assumes everyone understands what they are saying when in fact their form of writing is at time quite confusing and leaves much to be desired. The key words in the instructions were All forms DS-156 are required to be completed in an electronically-completed format, when for some it would have been easier to understood All DS-156 forms are required to be completed in an electronically-completed format.

I hope everything works out for you and your fiancée.

Thanks Yodrak, Sorry for the confusion, I just thought I would add my interpretation of the way I saw it to be. Reading bureaucratise is never a simple thing to do and can be quite frustrating.

Takram2000, I think you are right, but someone else will have to confirm it for you, I’m not able to do that.

takram2000,

My wife submitted DS-156k as a K3 applicant.

Looking at the information that the form provides, it seems to me that it is in part applicable to a K3 visa as well. In particular item 5.

Yodrak

I just went through this last week at the Irish embassy, i had mine typed out and the reason for this is all the other forms like the DS-230 and the 156, when you fill them out on line it goes right into the embassy computers so that you go there they just scan the barcode and all your info comes up. When i was there last friday i got my Visa that day, i'm now in the US. You can get it on the Dublin US embassy website but the best thing to do is go to Google and type USCIS and the forms you want and thay will allow you to type and print them.
