My fiancé has suggested we both separately email the US embassy in Moscow and informally tell them what we mean to each other, thinking this will help our case. I’m kind of on the fence about it because knowing how our government works, I’m not sure it won’t gum up the works.

A little history may be necessary. We have progressed all the way to her interview at the Moscow Embassy. She had the medical and interview which went well; however, they are requesting a few more documents. The good news is she won’t have to return to Moscow to give them in person, they told her she could send the additional documents overnight.

The question is, this far into the process, do we send the informal emails or not?

Thanks for your thoughts..

John…

Send what they have requested. Your emails about "how much you mean to each other" would mean nothing to them and would probably never even get into the hands of the appropriate CO.

If the interview went well and they just need a few more "documents", (I myself just went through something similar), then I'd just send what they ask for and forget sending any more emails, (unless the nature of the documentation requested involves 'proof of continuing relationship' in which case I don't think an email would do, a notarized letter would have greater effect I'd think).

It sounds to me like you are already 'approved' pending receipt of the items you were missing. I'd not give them anything they were not asking for at this point for fear of gumming up the works.

Personally, I would not send the emails. I would only provide what they asked for and wait to hear from them.

Good luck.

Congratulations... you're approved! You just have to wait a bit more. Moscow is doing this to a lot of us. And knowing that, I made sure my fiancee (now wife), had mounds of emails, msn converstations, etc. And then she goes and forgets her original birth certificate, which I put in her black zipper folder to be taken to the embassy. GRRRR!

Long story short, we thought we'd never get the damn visa. Interview on November 30, visa received on December 21, entered US via Delta (Moscow to JFK) flight on next day. :o:yes:

Send them all sorts of #######. Even if you think it's useless. They don't care if it's sexual or whatever, at least they'll know you and yours are serious. I think we even made fun of USCIS and the embassy in our conversations. But why would they care? I had every email printed, and a mile long of msn conversations. Do whatever you have to do.

As most here always say, it's better to have too much, rather than not enough.

Good luck,

-Alex

What? The Consulate's email system is not where they will adjudicate your case! If they want more documents, send them the documents they are requesting. Email is not what they are asking for.
