Hello.just worried about our I-130 petition document.my husband and I got married while he was in the states.he couldnt make it to our wedding becaise he got a new job two months before the wedding so he couldnt come to africa.and all arrangements were made for our wedding before he got a job.he tried his best to attend the wedding but couldnt make it. He and I were able to register our marriage after 6 months of our wedding when he came down to africa

My question is will this have an effect on our i130 approval because we go married in august 2008 but he wasn't around at that time and was able to come after 6 months?

If you filed an I130 between when you had a ceremony with no husband and when he came and registered the marriage you will be denied. You would have had to use the 2009 date.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Not being rude, just curious. How do you get married when there's no one there to get married to? I've never heard of this before.

My wife and I got married when I was on military duty tour of Kabul Afghanistan. I later travelled to Ghana, we both went to AMA to legally register the marriage. We filed soon after. We were approved one shot! No problems! She's here with me and we just had another beautiful baby girl!

OP, I don't think you will have any issues as others have pointed out. See my timeline for details. Good luck!

Well there won't be an issue as long as the petition was filed after the marriage was consummated.
