Got my interview now....I am now have an interview date..yay..Nov 18.

Got the official notification/P4 email today!

Made reservations today (December flights are CRAZY expensive!!!). My round trip from DC to Bogota? $700. Her one way flight in the beginning of December? $1000!!!!

We are practicing interview questions (Thanks VJ!) every night!

Of course, I will be crazy organized with the paperwork for the interview:

THEM: "We need a copy of your third grade report card"

ME: "Right here m'aam!"

hey guys! will petitioner and applicant both get the interview letter by email or only the applicant???

It goes to the emails they have on file for you. So if yo gave them beneficiary and petitioner email both will get.

MoBar, where/how do you check CEAC status of a package? Is this something printed on the interview letter?

If you mean the case status (At NVC, In Transit, Ready, ...etc), you check through the usual ceac portal... you just choose the last option: Check My Visa Application Status.

If you mean how to track a package via DHL, then it is explained on Post#1 of this thread. It's not exact science though. My case never showed on DHL tracking system.

Date Package Left From NVC : You have to call NVC and get the date it left no other way to know the date.

Date Received By Consulate: Once you get the date it left NVC you can start tracking it with the DHL and its a guess-estimate but pretty close

Date Rec Instructions (Pkt 3): Does not pertain to IR1/CR1

Date Complete Instructions (Pkt 3): Does not pertain to IR1/CR1

Date Rec Appointment Letter (Pkt 4): When you receive. Really its not when you received it its when you found out the date on the timeline.

Most one way flights are more expensive than round trip. Have you look into round trip with refundable ticket back?

Thank you! Yes I meant the dead portal. My case still shows At NVC today, and I thought I'm missing something in the way I try to track it. Thank you again.

So happy to report VISA APPROVED!!!!

Hubby was in and out in under and hour. He said the lady working at window 7 was a little intimidating as he overheard the people in front of him getting grilled. He was hoping to get another window, but when they called him up "Window 7" ha ha. He said he was sh*tting himself. But, then he tamed the tiger and got approved. It was all very anticlimactic and he wasn't told specifically that he was approved, but she told him all about what would happen with putting the visa in the passport and receiving it in about a week. So, he called me after and said "I think we got approved" and I a was like "What do you mean THINK" I said as long as they didn't ask you to send anything further and told you they are posting the passport with the visa in it we are approved. I think he was expecting to walk out of there with a piece of paper stamped APPROVED or something.

Funny, in the end we never got asked for a joint sponsor even though my job is not continuing in the States. I had my sister fill everything out in case, but it wasn't needed. However, I did send hubby with a house valuation, bank account info etc. to prove we can provide for ourselves.

Thanks MoBar65! I think it would be possible, but we are at the mercy of the real estate gods now as we have to sell our house. The market in our area is good and it is Spring here in Australia, so the yard is looking lovely. I don't think we will have too much trouble with a sale.

I think we are going to plan to stay for one last Christmas to say goodbye to family and friends here and enjoy some warm weather before heading to winter in the Pacific Northwest in the new year. So bittersweet that we have to leave people we love to go be with other people that we love. Such is life of an international couple!

Now that the visa is approved it finally seems real and it is sinking in that I will be leaving my home for the past 12 years and all of the friends that I have made here. But, then I remember I am going to be reunited with the friends I left behind and start a new adventure. How fortunate I am to have been able to live in 2 such wonderful countries when a lot of people I know have never left the small town we grew up in.
