HI VJER'S

I GOT A CHECKLIST SOME MONTHS AGO FROM NVC REQUESTING FOR CIVIL DOCUMENTS AND FEW WEEKS LATER GOT ANOTHER ONE STATING (SPECIFICALLY) THEY NEEDED (BENEFICIARY'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE, POLICE CERTIFICATE AND MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE).

HERE'S IS MY QUESTIONS,

----------------------------------------------------

THE PASSPORT COPIES NVC HAS ON RECORD WILL EXPIRE BY 24TH OF THIS MONTH..... CAN I SEND COPIES OF THE NEW PASSPORT COPIES AND DO I NEED TO SEND IT WITH THE OLD OR MY WIFE NEED TO SEND IT ALONG WITH LETTER OR SOMETHING ???????

MY WIFE HAS A NEW US PASSPORT WITH HER NEW SURNAME........ CAN SHE SEND IN HER NEW PASSPORT COPIES ALONG WITH THE CIVIL DOCUMENTS? BECAUSE I DON'T WANT ANY MORE CHECKLIST.

DOES SHE NEED TO SEND IN HER DIVORCE PAPERS ALONG WITH IT TOO?

DO I HAVE TO SEND ANOTHER PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPH?

I SENT A SMALL FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND NOW I GOT THE NEW LONG ONE BIRTH ATTESTATION BECAUSE I CAN'T USE THE NPC BIRTH CERTIFICATE BECAUSE I WAS BORN BEFORE THEY STARTED USING THIS NEW LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

CAN I USE THE NEW LONG BIRTH ATTESTATION THAT I GOT FROM THE NPC INSTEAD OF THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

1. She can send in the new passport copies since the old one will expire soon, since her new surname will be your surname, I guess NVC will use their common sense to figure it out. **besides the IV package is all about the beneficiary**

2. She needs to send in her divorce decree if she was married before.

3. NVC and U.S embassy requires Nigerians to send in Attestation of birth from NPC and also you should attach a sworn affidavit of declaration of age done by one of your parents preferably your mom stating the details of your birth. Or you can either attach a baptism cerificate in place of sworn affidavit.

Seems nothing in your package was right so you really need to resend everything original or certified copy. A shame you been sitting for 3 months with wrong documents sent in, Sorry.

Her passport is not asked for or required. So unless you are sending separate package of evidence why send it they don't need it. Its your passport they need not hers.

2. She needs to send in her divorce decree if she was married before. This is incorrect. petitioner sends their divorce decree to USCIS not NVC. The IV package has nothing to do with the petitioner. It's not needed Lovie Lovie

You have to have long form birth certificate from NPC nothing else will pass CO at embassy. Short no wrong one you need long form. Attestament of birth will not work.

I may not be an expert in other fields or topic, but with registration of birth in NIGERIA, I know that for sure that you need attestation of birth and sworn affidavit.

According to the Deputy Director of the NPC's Vital Registration Department, only individuals under the age of 18 can obtain a birth certificate. Adults over the age of 18 can only obtain an attestation letter. Its a "legal document issued to back up the Age Declaration Affidavit of an individual who is over eighteen years of age"

OP you should read this link for peace of mind sake.
