USCIS received our papers towards the end of May. We were transferred last month to California from Texas. Does anyone think that someone could have possibly been working on our docs. while in Texas and if so would California continue from where Texas left off? Or, does it start all over again? Sorry if I'm confusing anyone.

The files sit in a box until the officer picks it up to process it. It should only take 15 minutes, Your file was most likely collecting dust in Texas. Now it is sitting in CSC waiting for an officer to pick it up. You have a good month or so before you can expect someone to pick it up if they start working on the transferred files right away.

Yep... 15 minutes

This is old ( 2007) but it will give you a good idea of the process. Its probably more streamlined now. Who knows

Are you saying it only takes 15 minutes for them to do the docs. and decide if it's approved or not?

Its always shocking to learn we wait so long for someone to spend such a tiny amount of time on our petitions.

i read that same interview with the former USCIS adjudicator in recent months. I did speak to an immigration officer, however, and he said the biggest item that stalls the processing time is the background check (one is run on each the petitioner and the beneficiary) since they outsource these and they can take up to a few months or longer to produce a report. So I always wondered if they request the reports right away before they "put the file into the box" and then when they do pick it up to work on it, the background checks are either there to reference or, if not, back into the box we go.

Pure speculation and curiosity and no one has the answer unless you have some inside scoop you'd like to share. If so please do!!
