NVC immigration process and CR-1 timeline

Hi, all. Not sure where to post this. I found this forum while trying to look for where my wife could get her police clearances for her OFW time. Judging by some of the searches I've been doing, it looks like our timeline is right on schedule - for now .

First, a little history, I guess

2-18-12 met online (Facebook) through friend/family

12-20-12 met in person over Christmas break in Taiwan. She worked overseas at the time

12-25-12 got engaged in Tamsui

12-29-12 I flew back home - Seattle

3-1-13 taiwan employ ended. Back home to Philippines and preparations

8-25-13 my first time to Philippines

9-28-13 marriage date. And now the fun begins with the immigration

USCIS I-130 submitted early Feb., approved two weeks later, sent to NVC March 4

Case number from NVC received beginning of June for filling out ds-260 and I-864

After all extra information compiled and entered for ds-260, completed end of July

NVC checklist Sep. 2. Police clearances from all 3 countries lived - in process

I'm not sure why, but they are asking for certified- birth cert., marriage certificate, and copy of passport - even after we included all certified in USCIS app

It's getting closer I know, but seems so far away still

USCIS requires COPIES of your documents. You should not have sent the originals to the USICS. The NVC requires the originals. If you do not send originals to the NVC, they will not complete your case. Have you read the NVC WIKI?http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

Exactly. We sent certified copies of each to USCIS. Coincidentally, the NVC is asking for the exact same thing when they should already have it from USCIS. Marriage certificate as well

Documents must be from the appropriate issuing government authority. Failure to provide the correct document will delay your case and may result in re-scheduling of your interview or refusal of a visa.

Two different agencies. They don't pull documents from the file you sent to the USCIS. You must send the originals to the NVC. Don't forget the bar code cover sheet for your IV package

Ah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. When I called NVC to ask about it, the csr would only say " doesn't matter, we need it" No other explanations

To be more specific here, USCIS only requires photocopies of documents, not the actual original piece of paper the issuing authority gives. The actual original piece of paper from the relevant issuing authority is what goes to the NVC.

I wish we had known that earlier. But anyways, we planned ahead for how many certified copies we thought we'd need. Easy process to apply and receive from there. Now, just waiting for her police clearances to arrive and waiting on word of status for I-864
