I sent in my original marriage record to NVC and it's an irreplaceable booklet as it has the signature of my late father. God forbid NVC misplace it. I was under the impression that an interview is scheduled once the embassy has the case, isn't it so?

I hope you'll get it back intact. I didn't send my kids' original birth certificates since they also contain the immunization records. I got new ones issued and sent them instead. I don't know if that could have worked for your marriage certificate. If you can get an original issue, get it for future use so you never have to part with the precious one.

No. NVC schedules the interview date first, then they ship the case out to the embassy/consulate.

I think China and expedites are the exception, but I could be wrong.

Oh My G - GUYS - GOOD NEWS FOR ALL OF US!!!

I don't know if this is 100 percent true but I just spoke with Sylvia (supervisor) she said that the new process do affect current packages. Once they get to one of your package, they are also pulling any other package you may have in the system to review them together. It seems to be faster. NOW LETS SEE IF THIS IS TRUE.....THIS WOULD BE AWESOME NEWS FOR ALL OF US!

Also, the date they are going by is whatever date is listed in that 60 day email they received.

Hi to all it is true my scan dates AOS July 14 and DS260 and civil docs Aug 18 got both reviewed Sept 5

I did suggest you to send the IV package too. It's a new trend NVC started to review packages together. Someone got a checklist and NVC told them that an earlier sent IV package will be reviewed along with the checklist they sent later and to count their "60 days" from the receipt of checklist. In Crisarria's case, her AOS was sent on July 14 and IV on August 12 and both got reviewed together.

Haven't seen the timeline of Crisarria you're referring to. Did she get a case complete already? If so, then what someone here said earlier is true that they're reviewing both packets at the same time with the date stated in the 60 day email. Hope so!!!! This is actually awesome?

Ohhhh just saw her timeline. She got a checklist though so we can't determine if her packets got reviewed together?

Yes, obviously, expedites are an exception.

And I believe there's a country or two where the embassy/consulate gets the case first and schedules the interview themselves, but I can't think of which one(s) at the moment. I don't think it's China though.

Hi yes I got a checklist on Sept 5 but both agents I spoke to confirm that all my emails and documents were reviewed on Sept 5 at the same time and that it was odd but that maybe it was a new trend that they were changing things around for everyones files.

Yes, it makes sense to send AOS and IV documents together.

However, you won't be able to send the AOS package while waiting for the IV fee invoice so you'll probably end up waiting longer if you get a checklist for the AOS package.

In other words, you'll wait for up to 60 calender days for the IV fee invoice; then, send your AOS and IV documents and wait for another 60 calender days. If you're lucky, you get a CC in 120 days (4 months) from getting your case number. :dead:

If you get a checklist, you'll wait for another 60 calender days (total of 180 days or 6 months). If you get a second checklist, you'll end up waiting for 8 months at the NVC stage. Getting stuck at NVC for 8 months would be a crime! :bonk:

Edit: I see a sentence: "Please allow 15 days for the NVC to process your DS-261 before continuing to the next step." http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/Step_1_Choose_an_agent.html Maybe you'll receive the IV fee invoice in 15 days from filling out the DS-261? If so, it'll definitely save a lot of time! I had to wait for 40 days for the IV fee invoice.

I believe they are going to unlock both AOS and IV fee at the same time.

I really really want it this way!

8 months in USCIS was way too much and I don't want to spend another 6 or 8 in nvc :P

I am just wondering, how about the others who submitted only their AOS packet and still waiting for their IV invoice?hmmmm then I suggest you MUST submit your IV packet asap for it to be reviewed with the AOS. How about DS-260? This is really confusing!???

Hi all, I just called and I didn't even get a busy signal! And then only 25 minutes on hold!

They also told me that my DS 261 was approved this weekend (September 6) and my IV fee should be unlocked any day. I submitted my DS 261 on July 28.

I was also going to ask a question about the fee increases but the agent on the line didn't know that the fees were even going up this week. Go figure.

Hello all. Been following the site anonmously for a while now. Really helpful and supportive people here. Just wanted to provide an input here, called NVC today was informed DS261 takes 30 days from reciept, AOS takes 60 days and IV Documents takes another 60 days.. this is quite depressing. I thought USCIS was slow but this is just insane. Considering the amount of time, emotional and financial investment we put in this process I had hopes that the NVC process would be a smooth and quick ride. Apparently I was mistaken.

I'm not sure why they just dont open up EP processing for all the countries as it would significantly speed up the process, instead of sending critical documents via snail mail which are prone to get lost.

So much confusing and contradictory info.... My heart skipped a beat with joy when I read the first post, then came crashing down again with the second post. Both called the NVC today and got totally different answers, how frustrating!

I think I will personally choose to believe what godalone posted only because she spoke with a supervisor, where a regular phone rep may have been quoting old info. That would save us an entire month if both packages are reviewed together!!! Oh I hope I hope I hope !!!!!!

FYI, I am doing EP, and so far it hasn't been any faster than anyone else. I'm also living outside the US with my husband and I didn't get auto expedited either. Haven't been especially lucky so far, but if our packages are reviewed together that would be huge!
