Hi,
I have sent Civil Docs to NVC. I have question about birth certificate.
My Questions:
-The translated version I sent has stamp "Translated Verion" on it but it doesn't have statement specified by NVC because it was issued by issuing authority only.
Q-1 So will I get check list (because we dont have those exact words on translated version) or will go through without any problem.
Q-2 What to do if NVC say that they need this specific words on the Translated version? (Issuing authority does not write any extra words on this certificete. They have their format.).
Q-3 I read the word supervisor review in this forum. What is that and in what case we can ask for supervisor review and how to ask for supervisor?

I really don't think you would get a checklist for that. If you do get a checklist for it, and NVC just won't budge, you would take a copy of it to someone else who is competent to translate it, and have them do a new one and put the required statement on there. I really don't think it will come to that, but that's what I would do.

So the NVC reps have supervisors that you can ask to speak to for a number of reasons. If you receive conflicting information from different reps, if you get a checklist for something that you really did include, if your wait time exceeds the quoted wait time, etc. These would all qualify you to speak with a supervisor, and in some cases, they can investigate whatever issue you are having. However, depending on the rep you talk to, it is sometimes very difficult to persuade them to let you talk to a supervisor.... or there aren't any available.... and even if you do get a supervisor review initiated, it can take just as long for them to clear up the issue as it would have taken if you just sent the missing document or whatever. Hope that explanation helps!

This is the date that NVC input your package into the system. Usually a few days after the day that they receive it. You can call NVC to ask about this date, but most reps call it the date that your package was received. The terminology differs.

Completely agree with you guys. It makes zero sense.

One time I called and they asked me for the name of the beneficiary, I gave it to them, and the girl said "oooook.... and that's also the name of the petitioner?" I was so confused by her question, I think I just said, "Ummm... what??" And she eventually asked me for the name of the petitioner..... Clearly, the name of a beneficiary would not be the same as the petitioner. Either that was her very first call or she forgot to use her brain for a minute or something...

My point is.... yes, call and try to speak with someone else and confirm the date of birth they have on file.

It seems like some people are receiving these emails, while others are not. If I had to guess, I would think it is triggered when they scan your AOS (or IV).... but the only way to know for sure is to call them.

thanks much :)

can the beneficiary call nvc to get the case number?

I'm not even in a spousal category (EB-1), and still learned a lot from this thread. Recommend you stick long enough to learn of the NVC timelines and pitfalls.

From my experience, frequent and extended meetings are a symptom of a dysfunctional organization. When most of the business is conducted through the meetings, most probably participants do little else outside them, not to mention the wasted man-hours due to large meetings where the majority are there just twiddling their thumbs.

I also witnessed the flipside of that coin. I lived in the States for 7 years, and I can tell that some of those "foreigners" are as racist as they accuse Americans to be. Some even refuse to socialize outside their expat circles on principle.

Yes that also happens doesn't say much for us as living beings now does it. :( Some times because of the way they were treated others because they are just plain and simple racists. I've seen it also but not as much.

Yeah, that's also true; people coming to the US can bring with them racist attitudes and other biases. I'm a little more worried about those biases in the majority, because they are more likely to have power, like to work for the government reviewing people's visa application... but I suppose all such attitudes are potentially dangerous.

Hi Amanda

I have been a bit quiet this week.

Hope you get your interview soon. Every day I look to see if you have it.

From your post looks like you are planning on going State side for Christmas and not staying here.

I am hoping and praying for either a late November or December interview so we can all be together for Christmas.

Xx

Still undecided about Christmas. It will depend on how quickly the house sells. We don't want to put it on the market until we have the visa. If it sells right away, we may go sooner. But, if it takes awhile and we are still here towards the end of December, we might as well spend one last Christmas with our Australian family and then start 2015 in the USA.

I called NVC last night our time (7am USA) and no interview assigned yet. Might try again before they close today to see if it was scheduled today, otherwise hope they are still scheduling next week and I hope I haven't missed out. Every step of this something has gone wrong, so I am a bit paranoid they have missed me.
