NVC Filers - September 2014

Im getting really tired of this. NVC need to do something about this delay. I miss the days when people used to be in and out of NVC in two weeks or even less.... 4 months and counting. I don't even know if my spouse will be here by the end of the year.

i got a email notification from nvc saying they got my documents on 3rd sept. it means they scan in my AOS ?

We sent in my husband's Lebanese birth certificate and police report which were translated by a sworn translator in Lebanon. There were tons of stamps on it, including a "sworn translator" stamp. When I called the NVC to ask if this was acceptable instead of a certification statement, I was told it would be fine. However, our IV packet hasn't been reviewed yet, so I can't tell you if it truly will be fine. (If I get a checklist, I will certainly be getting a supervisor involved.)

It really should be the other way around. Separated spouses/families are the ones who deserve the USCIS auto-expedite, especially if there are kids involved.

I so agree but it should be both those with children and separated from their spouse. Just unbelievably unfair.

Hi MoBar, I haven't called since Wed morning US time and it had not yet been scheduled. I will call Friday afternoon US time (when I wake up in Australia). Hope they have a date for me, otherwise I may have missed out on this round? Hopefully that means they will do another round in a couple of weeks.

I don't think Sydney is a very busy consulate, but I could be wrong. Will keep my fingers crossed! I am hoping to get a date so I can book my husband's medical appt.

I totally agree. Not only does this separation impact us as husband and wife but it is awful for the children. Our guys, ages 13 and 15 have been apart from their Dad for almost a year now with the exception of two holidays. Thank goodness for Skype. Hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer for us now. Xx

Visa was approved today! Easy! Just checked the website and it is now to "ISSUED"

Thanks to everyone here- all the awesome people we've met, really appreciate the support, love, and compassion we all have for each other. Big Thanks to awesome Saylin, for keeping my wife sane , BDrew, BOS, KlgD, Stackeria, Lovemytico, JEFFINMX, Mobar, and many others!

You all have brilliant. Will be writing a review soon. I will say that the checklist for NVC are beyond frustrating and uncall for as they didn't seem to be bothered to have no W2 nor want the P60!

Good luck to everyone still waiting for this lengthy process, it's hard but it will be worth it all in the end .

What does everybody mean when they say scanned? AOS scanned, IV scanned?

This is the date that NVC input your package into the system. Usually a few days after the day that they receive it. You can call NVC to ask about this date, but most reps call it the date that your package was received. The terminology differs.

MoBar65, I *totally* agree with you. I can't understand why a USC who chooses to go live in another country (with their spouse), most likely pays taxes in another country, gets an expedite, and not the other way around. I have been wondering about that since the beginning and can't think of a good any reason as to why USCIS does it that way.

Completely agree with you guys. It makes zero sense.

my hubby just called nvc to get our case number and was told that my date of birth wasn't correct and the he would have to send a copy of my passport to confirm the DOB, which to me makes no sense.

has this ever happen to any of u guys?

One time I called and they asked me for the name of the beneficiary, I gave it to them, and the girl said "oooook.... and that's also the name of the petitioner?" I was so confused by her question, I think I just said, "Ummm... what??" And she eventually asked me for the name of the petitioner..... Clearly, the name of a beneficiary would not be the same as the petitioner. Either that was her very first call or she forgot to use her brain for a minute or something...

My point is.... yes, call and try to speak with someone else and confirm the date of birth they have on file.

It seems like some people are receiving these emails, while others are not. If I had to guess, I would think it is triggered when they scan your AOS (or IV).... but the only way to know for sure is to call them.

DS-261 approved! Apparently it was approved on Sept 2 (but they didn't tell me that yesterday when I called). But I still don't have the invoice...

But whatever! I'm just excited for this step!!! Woohoo!

Someone on fb got a case complete for July 17th scan date. Seems like they're making progress!
