Told Visa "May Take 1 to 2 Weeks to Arrive"

I can't believe it. But WE'RE DONE! WE WERE APPROVED after nearly 2 years of paperwork and fees. However, I have one remaining question... My husband was told (I wasn't there---I had to check out of the hotel) by the interviewer that "the visa may take 1 to 2 weeks to arrive". Is everyone told this? We're IR-1 if that makes any difference. Is it a technicality? Just to be "safe" and not give you the most common expectancy in case something does delay it? Just want to know whether to wait as originally planned (we were expecting it Wed/Thurs) or to plan for my husband to return for another week or so until it does arrive. Thanks everyone!!!

02/19/2013 - Received NOA2 letter in mail

03/06/2013 - AOS fee invoice received
04/18/2013 - AOS fee paid
04/21/2013 - AOS paperwork mailed

01/06/2014 - Supporting documents requested

06/24/2014 - Mailed supporting documents

07/03/2014 - Email verifying documents were received

07/10/2014 - Received interview date

08/11/2014 - Scheduled medical

08/15/2014 - Scheduled interview date (APPROVED!)

08/18/2014 - Visa status changes to ISSUED on CEAC website

08/19/2014 - Waybill # for Loomis arrives in e-mail

08/20/2014 - Visa/Passport ready for pick up early morning

Visa status now says issued as of this Monday morning Aug 18th. Hoping it arrives Wednesday so we can rent the U-Haul that day and start loading to leave on Thursday. Wouldn't be in a huge rush if I didn't have work waiting for me and my son's birthday on the 31st. Anyways, just thought I would throw that out there. Will post a review of consulate experience and update when visa is in hands. Cheers.

Got waybill tracking number yesterday on the 19th in the evening and visa is ready for pickup this morning on the 20th here in Edmonton, Alberta. 2 full business days for the wait, not bad at all. Well be packing trailer today and heading to the border first thing in the morning. Again will write full reviews of both Consulate interview and POE when were settled in. Cheers.

Enjoy the trip. We drove 18 hours straight in the uhaul which I don't recommend! LOL

Congrats!! I did the Uhaul from NS to DC...sidetracked to Rhode island to store things at the Inaws.....Ensure u check over the Uhaul truck..some can be in bad shape. best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
