Well it depends which embassy, and how picky they are.. Not sure on Mexico. I've heard that Canada is a biggie on domicile. You're technically a tourist there though aren't you.. :P Does your tourist visa have an expiration date too?

I saw one once that was checklist for it, because they never put the domicile proof in there!!! :bonk:

That's why I mentioned the "lacking" part, as I believe I've seen a checklist or two as well for people that didn't include ANYTHING.

Right! It's my understanding that as a U.S. Citizen living abroad with my spouse, I had to either show proof that I maintained a U.S. domicile during this time (which I did) OR show proof that I am trying to re-establish a U.S. domicile after living abroad for this time.

Jsumner, yes! My Mexican permit is a 180 day tourist permit. Technically, I am on a long tourist trip and I need to cross back into the U.S. every 180 days. ;)

Right, yeah. It's funny thing domicile is :P. I think it's when you've been gone for long periods of time leaving the US, especially on a visa for a country to be there indefinite. It gets more tricky that way. (I would think). -Just a thought of mine.. probably not true ;).

Thank you, it took them 5 days to respond. I sent the request and I didn't have a case number. I received the case # on 8/18 and the same day I got an email saying the request is under reviewed. And yesterday 8/20 I got an email saying the embassy has accepted the expedite

Great, thank you! That´s not too long at all considering the usual wait times.

I just spoke with Arthur (who was extremely pleasant compared to the last time I talked to him) and he told me it will be *at least* 60 days from 7/7 for me to hear about my AOS package. I take this with a grain of salt, of course, but I'm really shocked at how slow they are moving through the beginning of July. July 7 was only the fourth business day of the month, because of the long holiday weekend.

I'm at 34 business days as of today.

I hope your cases move faster! I'm encouraged by seeing a mid-July CC, but still... :clock:

Digression below:

(We had our I-130 ready in October 2013, and only submitted it to the Chicago lockbox in April because I thought I had to prove a 6 month residency in a foreign country before filing a petition, and because of the way my visa renewal worked out, this pushed us out until April. This was before I found Visa Journey and all you helpful people.

After consulting with an attorney, this turned out to be totally untrue and was only the case when DCF was still available in France. In any case, even if I only filed in April, it still feels like we've been waiting forever. It could have been so much worse, with a longer wait at the USCIS stage. I guess I need to count my blessings!)

Petitioner and Beneficiary both live temporarily in France, no DCF

We were told that documents could be sent at any time. So we did, using the same cover letter as before for the AOS package. Our IV fee had not been invoiced when we sent the IV package, but got it 2 days later. I don't really know if it does anything to help speed up the case. Mostly I just wanted to get the documents off my hands. And to feel like I was doing something... :D

Have you checked and verified that your IV packet was matched to your case? One of the concerns mentioned here is the possibility of getting them misplaced or the applicant penalized without the IV fee cover sheet specifically.

What they did was super risky. If that ever gets found out, it will invalidate the Green Card and result in a misrep ban.

They are illegal immigrants in my book, plain and simple, even if the plastic cards in their pockets say otherwise. They deserve to be exposed and kicked out.
