Question regarding Interview at Islamabad Embassy

Hi,

My Fiance has an interview in couple days. As we try to prepare for the interview there are few things we are coming across that we are just not sure about. It will help if some one who has gone through Islamabad Embassy that can help us.

So, We didnt have an official engagement ceremony. I have visited him in London and thats where he proposed and we got engaged. Since then I have went to Pakistan twice to visit him but no ceremony. We did exchange rings in pakistan but it was very informal. We did it more for ourselves. so no pictures of that. We do have a lot of pictures from all 3 of my visits. Would that be a problem? The appointment letter states to bring Engagement pictures. But we dont really have any pictures of the engagement since there was no ceremony. Is that gonna be a red flag or problem? I told my fiance to be honest and tell them that since my parents weren't in pakistan we couldn't really do an engagement ceremony without them and its not necessary in our religion. Fiance is worried that they asked for it and we dont have it.

Secondly, I gave him a promise ring that he normally wears. its a band. I am worried that they may misinterept it as wedding band since in USA guys wear band on the left hand ring finger after wedding. Do you think that could create issues that the interview (my photobook that i created includes a picture of both of our hands with the rings). Also, for prior marriage/divorce would copies be okay? I sent him priority mail certified copies but it seems like its lost somewhere in the mail and hasn't reached him yet.

I would.take all the pictures of both together and also try to get the records of calls n SMS if were contacting through it and any kind of gifts ,reciepts of the shipments if any..and I don't think the band will matter I mean no1 wears a band anymore so they might not even ask him abt it but they will ask abt the ring...just b honest tell him to be relaxed during the interview n not to panic or anything..Insha Allah everything will go good just pray he dsnt get put in the AP

You can see some of the reviews that people have done for Islamabad embassy it may help with answering questions you may have. Realistically engagement is a western tradition and and it's been made more of a big event unfortunately by various cultures. If you see traditional Pakistani culture some couples don't even see who they are getting married to till wedding night. Long story short pictures with relatives family are key. Explain that no formal ceremony was held for whatever reason..... Don't really need one other then that perhaps you guys did not think it was necessary . BTW practice questions for interview pm if u need a list of sample questions. You need to have some sort of copy or what not of the prior marriage I don't think original are required if so they can ask for them just provide later on.

Letter if intent is enough for engagement. I also did not have ceremony, told the CO same. Send your pics together but not of BAND. Band will be considered proof of marriage and he may be asked to apply for spouse visa in stead of finance visa.

Good quality scanned copies for divorce decree will be enough. It should be clear enough to be legible.
