My wife's Visa Interview at the US Embassy in Manila (USEM) is on August 15th. USEM's Interview instructions state that she must bring her birth certicate and that it must be issued by the NSO and that it must be on security paper. It states the same thing in regard to our marriage certificate. The documents she has were issued by the NSO; however, I'm not sure if they are on security paper. It looks like regular paper to me. In fact, when I made color photo copies of the documents, I couldn't tell the differnce between the copies and the originals. The paper is the same. I had to submit the originals with the DS-260 and NVC did not have any issue with them. Is my wife going to have a problem with these documents at the interview?

As I recall...at the top of the docs, it should say NATIONAL SECURITY OFFICE or NSO...something like that. It will take a few days to get that done if she hasn't done it, yet. Take a look at the copies that she sent you...look for any indicator that it came from NSO. There is likely to be a blue-colored seal...could vary. Some security paper is the color of the paper...yellow, blue, green, etc. If you cannot find NSO anywhere on the documents then, it would seem that she didn't get it done. If that's the case, she needs to get a move on - Right Now - to have them for her appointment. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't get done before then...she'll have to get it done then go back to the Embassy to hand-deliver them after her interview. But, it's always best to be very prepared and have it all together BEFORE going to the interview - no delays and it leaves a better impression.

Good Luck

They do have a NSO seal and the front of the documents are yellow. However, with a color photo copier, they can be easily duplicated. I just expected "security paper" to mean that it had a special texture to make it difficult to duplicate, but apparently that isn't the case. Thanks for your input.

They have something inside of that paper that when they scanned or if they used special light they can determined if the paper is from nso or not..That's why they say security paper.that's what they did in my daughter's bc when she about to obtain passport. .they checked the BC by placing under the light.they said just to verify if it's from NSO..
