I just wanted to know, does the CFO keep any of the materials you present to them (for example: Birth Certificate, CENOMAR, etc). I finally got an interview Sept 25, but I plan to do the CFO class and get the certificate prior to this. I have all the required documents needed for the interview. However, I am worried if my fiance goes to the CFO class, they may keep some of my documents, photos, and I will have stuff missing for the interview.

Where ever they ask for "original and copy" then they will verify that you have an original document, which they will return but they will keep the copy. They do not keep any personal pictures.

Bring copies also, CFO will keep only the copies of the documents they require.

Thank you so much! So all he has to do is walk in CFO and bring his passport and certificate, but I thought the 400 fee should have been already paid when attending the class. When he has to pick up the CFO sticker once the visa is released, does he have to pay that fee again?

Also can CFO deny a sticker? What would be reasons why they would deny someone? Like for instance, what if my fiance doesn't know the answer to those questions they would ask?

The 400 fee was paid during the interview and no need to pay again, only once.

Yes the CFO can deny a sticker. If you don't know your fiancée very well, if you don't have confidence to answer the questions. Age gaps can be a problem which will require additional questioning. She needs to answer the questions with confidence. If she is shy they will eat her up. Look the interviewer in the eye and answer the questions straight away. Be sure she knows your "landline" phone number (yes they ask that but how stupid as most people have given up their land lines). Be sure she knows your mothers "maiden name". Of course she needs to know where you work, what you do etc. etc.

Use to be they would only ask for a copy of a divorcee decree or death certificate, then one day they got a wild hair... and started asking for a copy of a tax return showing they filed SINGLE. Some they ask this from, some they don't, it isn't in their list of required documents, they use the "other documents" to cover everything and anything that the wild hair tickles. Way too much leeway given to this folks at CFO.

These are the things that love to hear from you. :) Thanks again, Hank.

This info is in my guide under the CFO tab ;)

Hank,

from CFO tab:

"From USC (copies of) - bio page of passport, birth certificate, divorce decree (if been married before) are the most common requests. " -- Would this create a red flag if they know the USC was born in Philippines and could have been previously married in Philippines and got divorced in the US?

"Use to be they would only ask for a copy of a divorcee decree or death certificate, then one day they got a wild hair... and started asking for a copy of a tax return showing they filed SINGLE."-- -->>>f these are the only document they are looking for then, there no problem since US divorce decree from court does not show the nationality of both spouses. I was just thinking if CFO would scrutinized married status of the USC in the Philippines since the birth certificate was required.

With CFO one never knows what is on their minds. Did CFO ask for a CENOMAR for your Fiance?

No. If they do, my fiancée is single, never married.

My only concerned is, if they asked for my birth certificates, education, mothers maiden name, etc, then they would absolutely think I am a Filipino before I got my USC and that would raise question if I am legally married in Philippines before the divorce decree in the US.

What they normally ask for at CFO from the USC is listed in my link. I have seen other Fil/Am come through and they were not asked to produce a CENOMAR... but with CFO that means nothing.

You have your divorce decree so I wouldn't stress on it too much.

Big part of CFO is presentation, your fiancee presents herself with confidence, be self-assured and looks them in the eyes when speaking goes a long ways there.

Thanks, Hank.

I also think, and even if so they would ask or raised flag if I was married in Phil. before, the interview is short that they would have no time to verify this with the NSO, with thousands of documents coming in and out everyday.

Also, the petitioner is a already out of Philippines responsibility being a USC.
