employment letter for co-sponsor, i-864

1. My dad will be a co-sponsor and we were not sure what the letter of employment should look like. What exactly does the letter of employment need to say?
2. Also, he will need to submit original pay-stubs for the past year? Is that right? That's a lot of pay-stubs. My dad said that he doesn't receive paper paystubs anymore. Can he just print them?
3. Part 7 "You assets" is optional. Should it be filled out? My dad's checking account fluctuates, but he could go ahead and put a number there.
4. My dad has co-sponsored my brother's wife who is now a green-card holder in the US. There is a question that asks about this on the I-864. Will this affect my case at all?
5. Lastly my wife got a new passport since we submitted the I-130. I assumed I would have to send a copy of this to USCIS, but when I called them I was told I didn't have to do that. I was told to update the passport on the travel.state.gov website, but I don't see anything on that website where I would do that.

Answers:

1. You dad will be a joint sponsor (when referring to an I-864, joint sponsor is the proper term). The letter of employment should state his job title, pay rate, and how long he has been with the company.
2. Photocopies or print-outs of pay stubs are fine.
3. If he is using income alone to qualify, N/A can be used to fill out the assets section.
4. No
5. All your wife will need to do is submit the data page of her new passport to the NVC when the time comes. There is nothing to update at this time.
