Freedom of Information Act. Great way to get hold of public information that the government doesn't publicize -- like lovely emails USCIS officials exchange about the I-130 backlog, for instance Some of them have been posted around VJ. We could make similar requests for information from NVC to get hard proof of the clusterf- there.

Well, yes, it'll delay your case as NVC goes by the last submitted date of your DS-261. Again, I repeat what I said earlier, the petitioner does NOT need to be the agent; it's fine if the beneficiary is. Just make sure both email addresses are on file.

Scan date for AOS/IV is 06/03. I've just received what I think is a false checklist email:

______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________

We received your Immigrant Visa Application; however, we have not received an Affidavit of Support form. You must submit an Affidavit of Support form before we can complete your case.

The AOS fee on CEAC hasn't changed and still shows PAID.

What's the protocol in this situation? Do I call now or do I give them a couple hours to work on the AOS before calling? How delayed are these checklist emails? Does it usually mean the IV is approved or that they are reviewing it?

Alright. I'm reading everyone's' questions about name change deeds and stuff and it's getting me all worked up. After I got married to my husband I formally changed my name to his, so the government and all other entities recognize me as this, however my birth certificate is still my maiden name since I didn't get a legal name change. Do I need to send NVC a document or something along with my IV package about my name change?

I am pretty sure your IV is approved. I also received a false checklist around 4 est today. Also, I have noticed that we get the false checklist the next day, so your IV should have been accepted yesterday. Aos might get processed today, congrats!!

I am pretty sure your IV is approved. I also received a false checklist around 4 est today. Also, I have noticed that we get the false checklist the next day, so your IV should have been accepted yesterday. Aos might get processed today, congrats!!

I'm afraid if I call now and the AOS hasn't been processed yet, the operator will simply confirm the existence of the checklist.

How soon can the phone operators tell if the checklist is real or false? Maybe Saylin knows?

I've heard of NVC losing AOS forms before so I'm still mildly concerned.

It is so annoying that the NVC approve dates that were scanned after yours. Then you hear of people with CC 2 weeks ago getting interviews after people who got CC this week .... how it this all fair!

I have never heard of changing your name on a birth certificate because you where not married then and it's to stay as is since that is the name you were born with. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

So good news and bad news:

Today we finally heard the long awaited words CASE COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously that's the good news. The bad news is that we got checklisted a second time for our AOS package! However, as it seems to only be a minor thing (I think our co sponsor made one or two errors on the I-184 form) they have decided to complete our case anyway and have asked us to re-do the I-184 and I will need to bring it with me to my interview.

So even though we have gotten a second checklist which could have delayed us another couple of months, they've given us the benefit of the doubt and completed the case provided I bring the corrected I-184 to my interview. In my mind this was a narrow escape as I'm sure if they wanted to they could have asked us to resubmit the AOS package a third time! I wonder if this is common for people who have already been through a checklist delay?

Anyway, I'm not complaining as we've finally got a case complete and now we're on to the next stage. However, I do now have the added worry of bringing the corrected I-184 to my interview and hoping there won't be a problem with it again. That is stress I could have done without!

I just called NVC and got checklist for i864 form and IV package accepted.....I know I will be getting already send and scanned by today..

Still have to wait again for CC...

Just got off the phone with NVC. 3 redials. 30 minutes on hold.

Jim was really helpful and said to ignore the checklist: AOS and IV were both received together.

IV was accepted on 07/10 (26 business days after scan)

AOS hasn't been reviewed yet.
