NVC Filers - July 2014

I decided to check the AILA page to see if they've had any conferences with NVC lately, and I found something kind of neat. The down side is that it's meant for attorneys rather than allowing petitioners/beneficiaries to report in, but check it out:

"The AILA DOS Liaison Committee has received numerous reports from AILA members regarding issues that they are experiencing with the National Visa Center (NVC). If you have experienced any problems with the NVC within the last six months, please complete the following survey. If you have questions, please e-mail reports@aila.org with the subject line 'NVC Issues.'"

This should be for everyone not just those with lawyers it's not fair and they and I mean everyone including Embassies and Embassy counselors should be held accountable for their actions they should not be omnipotent. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely"

Please if you ever come across anything like this for Embassies and Counselors please let us know. There are a few like Egypt that need serious shaking up.

It is a good day.

I called NVC and only had to try 3 times to get through. Then after 35 minutes.... they had my numbers!! Yah. So 30 days from my NOA2 we have our case number and INN. Still not able to pay or do the DS-261 but hopefully soon.

I just spoke with them and the agent was so annoyed of the fact that I called so many times already this week lol. Nothing for me either.

No I haven't called today as I called yesterday. Will wait until after weekend. 30 business days are next Wednesday.

Ok I have the stupidest question... I am filling out my I-864 and hoping to get it sent out on Monday, so now it is down to the nitty gritty and I'm deliberating over every detail.

I am the petitioner, and I live in Canada so my income is Canadian, we will be using assets to qualify for support, we are well over the threshold, easy peasy. I know which numbers from my tax forms to put in for the last 3 years, piece of cake.

Here is where I deliberate: I have current employment, and current income, but I'm not using it for the purpose of qualifying for this form. So that leaves me with a dilemma on how to answer question 6, because the instructions say: "Enter your current individual earned or retirement annual income that you are using to meet the requirements of this form and indicate the total on this line."

I can't check off that I'm not employed, because I am, but I'm not using my income to qualify for this form so I am not sure what to do.

Any petitioners living overseas, please I'd love to hear your thoughts on this question!!! Thanks :-)

Okay this is what I did. Under "current income" I put $0. I checked I am employed, wrote in my employer name and wrote in parenthesis (Costa Rica). I then got a checklist for "proof of employment" even though I, like you, am using assets to qualify. So I had to send in a letter from my work that I was employed there (just a simple letter "Lucybelle has been working for us for three years, etc")

[at first they told me to send in a letter saying I'm not using income but that didn't work. Said I had to send in proof of employment anyways, so do yourself a favor and send in proof of employment!]

i can not believe it!!! i called again and they reviewed my case and it has one thing missing....the marriage certificate!!!.... i told the guy i send a certified copy with the water mark from the marriage bureau exactly the same place we got our marriage registered!!! and we even had the guy write true copy of the original!!!! excuse my language but #######?!?!?

i put a request for supervisor and the guy said they would call me within the next few days.....i know they won't call so i will call again tomorrow.... do u guys think i should send the original?!?!? HELP!

Thank you sweet heart, I paid the IV fee and the DS-260 is ready to fill out but where do I get the IV form it's not showing on the page that shows paid or am I dreaming and there is no IV form to fill out? Holy Cow so they are one in the same? OMG I am a DOOFUS!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I am almost 100% positive that there is no IV form. There is the IV package that has to be sent out once the IV fee is paid but I don't think there is one specific form like there was for the AOS package (I-864).

I guess there is not much to report since we're now waiting for a long time to pay the AOS fee, IV fee, and CC.

On the positive side, this thread has become more manageable to read. It was difficult to keep up with 2-3 months ago.

Meanwhile, it seems like the three immigration Facebook groups that I subscribe to have become busier. Some people may be posting messages on the immigration Facebook groups instead.

Most of us chatter boxes got CCs!!! LOL

Shame people bail on VJ, they miss things like Saylin's wiki and important tidbits & time frames. Oh well!

Dear Soloenta, sweet heart....after you pay the IV you send your IV package , the 260 is the form you need to fill out online. I hope this helps!

You are right, the DS260 is the immigrant visa form.but u dont need to send it to NVC. just print the confirmation page and bring it to the interview.

Ok stupid question. I have searched/read and can't find the answer.

My AoS and IV fees were available at the same time (using a lawyer). I paid them. My AoS/IV packages were sent out this week (DS260 completed also) and the packages are due to arrive tomorrow. How do I find out when the two packages are "scanned"? Via email? By calling the NVC? I assume I should give them a few days to scan them or are they scanned upon delivery?
