August 2014 Interviews

went through this in Poland, i lived with my husband for 2 years and he applied for a residence permit after we got married.

the officer from department for foreigners interviewed us, it took around 2h (1h for my husband and 1h for me)

there were 50 questions ex. what does your husband drink for breakfast, what is his favourite food, how did you meet, did he meet your family members, who came for wedding .....

then the officer checked if our answers were the same

An hour long interview?! Yikes. Obviously y'all passed! lol The only similar thing we've gone through was with my priest during wedding preparations. Asked us questions separately to make sure we were legit. When it was my turn to walk out of the room, the priest came back to get me and asked me to sit down. The priest and my hubs had serious looks on their faces and the priest said, "(Hubs) has something he wants to confess." I got really worried and was like, "Yes?" Hubs looks at me straight-faced and says, "I've meant to tell you, but I'm actually Korean." I was confused as hell and the priest started laughing and said, "I told him to say that bc I was telling him his last name is a very common Korean name." My hubs is 100% English. lol

Just got off the phone with Dandy Don.. good and bad news.

Bad news is that we're going into the 3-day weekend without an interview date; good news is that August scheduling is open for all embassies.

I got Don last night and he was super chipper then too. :) Yeah, we got the same deal today too. Bah. Monday is another day .... :(

i suspect you can just tell the truth :)

Answer either of those truthfully...

1. We did not know about the ITIN, and just filed the return, and the IRS accepted it!

2. We did not know about the ITIN, and just filed the return, and the IRS accepted it!

I don't think you'll get that question, but have her get very big innocent eyes and shake her head!

Dang how in the world did you do that. I need to do mine and no ITIN and all that stuff.

Did you just wrote NRA? I say with IRS being in such chaos do whatever.

And whatever she answers is fine. I doubt they will ask. It's America taxes they won;t bother her.

Actually, I didn't do anything UNIQUE.

my accountant told me that if we owe taxes to IRS than they don't care if we have ITIN number or not.

We Filed Joint tax return, printed it and we leave empty space.. we didn't write NRA or anything else.

They accepted tax return with my check to them.. It was like 10K.

Tax Transcript is available online to print.

I'm glad that didn't happen to you with it getting cancelled! My husband is a stone throw from London, so he'd only grumble about having to sit on the Tube LOL

I already booked my ticket flr the 14th August, I never planned to be at the interview since it's not required. And spending our anniversary together is more important! His plan to arrive in the US 2 weeks after interview.

Did you book your ticket to the US before the interview or did you decided to wait? My husband and I are at odds about that lol

Does it take three days for the courier services in London to send back the passport for pickup? Just want to know so that we can book my husbands flight ticket to the USA.. Three more days till interview... The big day is July 7

We booked our tik before, but we didn't really understand how long it could take to get passport though, or about possible AP or embassy shuts, so prob wouldn't do it again. however if we make our flights, we will end up saving a few hundred, as we got his for 730 pound BA flights edi-lgw LGW- MCO, which is a good deal, we bought through a travel agent, who have a 450$ change fee, ick.

regarding delivery of passport lucky girl, it does seem to take 3 days, however someone on here had theirs take 8, maybe got a wee bit lost, so no guarantees. Good luck for interview!!

You should hear about it soon. My in-laws' interviews were scheduled on 06/24 for 08/06. Their files just got to the mumbai consulate yesterday. So, I am not sure about how this whole process works. Once you get the interview scheduled, you will have to make an appointment for fingerprinting and have to pick a location where your spouse's passport can be sent. When I was making those appointments online, there was an option to change the interview date, I clicked on it to see what slots were available. I can tell that starting 15th of July to end of July, they had close to 30 slots open per day. Unfortunately, my in-laws cannot come here any earlier than end of August, so I kept the same date. But all of you waiting for their spouses to get here, and have Mumbai consulate assigned, you should be able to get the interviews rescheduled to earlier date, as long as you will have medical done by then.

I am not sure, if we can do that, because on mumbai consulate website it is clearly written that one should not try to pre pone the interview date and adhere to the schedule given by NVC.
