Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Everything goes in cycles..I can remember it was not too long ago we were talking about the American Peso

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

Lets hope that by the time my interview comes around that I can get my $$$ down to a US account.

There are many avenues to do that....thats not an issues..what is the issue is finding the best rate.....and as I have stated before, just because a bank does not charge a fee....does not mean thats the best deal....Custom House (now Western union) used to be excellent, but now that they are Western Union, I believe they charge fees and the rate they give, hasn't been anything special.....but still doesn't hurt to check them out....as well of course the other banks such as TD which has had USA branches for awhile now......just takes some time and research.

Just wanted to point out that at any time you can walk into pretty much any Canadian bank, open an American dollar bank account now and buy American money when you think it's the right time to buy. When us banking, you won't have to worry about what the rate is at.. although, seriously make it easy on yourself and switch to td. It's made life here so easy for me.

Ugh, I'll be going up to Canada next month for almost a week and was hoping the Canadian currency would be a lot less. Dammit, now I'm going to get utterly ripped off when I go up to visit. Boooooooooooooo

Jan - Interview, accepted for Green Card

Feb - Green Card Arrived in mail

Oct - I-751 sent off

2006

Jan - 10 year Green Card accepted

Mar - 10 year Green Card arrived

Oct - Filed N-400 for Naturalization

Nov - Biometrics done

Nov - Just recieved Naturalization Interview date for Jan.

2007

Jan - Naturalization Interview Completed

Feb - Oath Letter recieved

Feb - Oath Ceremony

Feb 21 - Finally a US CITIZEN (yay)
