Hi,

I am an american citizen but I never lived in USA. I never report taxes because I was a dependent (I finish college a year ago). I won a fellowship for a little bit more of the requirement of the poverty guideline. My husband has his appointment July 17 and I need to be in USA by August 10. I don´t know if they will accept me as his sponsor, we are students we don't have assets. I try to find a joint sponsor but my family doesn't live in USA. Is this the end? They will not approve me as his sponsor?

Thank you

Do you have a US domicile?

You will need a Co-sponsor. You will always be the sponsor you are the petitioner. But just qualifying on a fellowship don't know I am sure they will require you to get a co-sponsor. You also have to prove domicile? Have you got all those papers together he will need that at interview to show that. You would be establishing since you haven't been here.

You say he has his interview July 17 so you already got through NVC?

Hi, yes I have the lease to prove that I am moving on August to Missouri. Also, I have an official letter of the university saying the amount of the fellowship and that I am starting right away in August. I have my official transcripts to prove that I studied abroad, so I was not required to pay taxes.

Long story, but if your are not in the USA you don't pass to the NVC, I mean the affidavit is approved in the interview. I can´t get a joint sponsor because nobody of my family is in USA and I don´t have friends over there since I never lived there. I have a lease to prove that I am going to live in the USA in August, the letter with the amount of the fellowship and the documents to prove that I was studying abroad.
