Hi,

I just checked the status of my application on CEAC and it shows that my case starting VAC (for Vancouver) arrived in Montreal??

Anyone come across this? I am not sure where my application actually is now.

Not sure where I should start contacting, Vancouver, Montreal or DOS....

Anyone have this happen to them or have any suggestions?

Thanks!

NVC seems to think that K-1's are only being processed in MTL now. We're still waiting to validate that information. Vancouver has not confirmed this, but sounds like they still are doing K-1s. Here is another user in a similar situation, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/501013-how-to-change-consulate-from-montreal-to-vancouver/

yeah I saw that post as well. Only difference is their case # was MTL and mine is VAC.

Very confusing. I emailed Vancouver to start and I guess will go from there. I hope I end up at Vancouver still, Montreal is far from Alberta!

I'll update this post if I hear, but yeah I am wondering if this is some normal type of screw up from NVC... :)

CEAC is sometimes convinced that only montreal exists. Don't worry about it just yet...if your case says VAC it's likely in vancouver.

You can send them an email at Vancouverk@state.gov

They're pretty good at getting back to you - next business day or the day after.

Make sure you state your case number, full name, DOB and fiance's name so they have all important information.

That is kind of what I was hoping happened. I have already sent the email off to Vancouver. I figured that is the best place to start.

Though, first reaction was "Go to VJ. Someone will know!" That is a sign that this is a great site for info and others opinions!

Thanks

No problem :) Luck to you!

Get your rcmp check going, if you haven't already - and don't forget to have them search your FULL name, first middle and last. Get your vaccine records, if you have them, or the bloodwork and necessary boosters if not :)

Thank you! I am slowly gathering everything. I am planning to see if they will extend my petition validity, so I figure I should wait until the consulate says yes or no to that first.

Things are moving so fast

Ah yes. They're usually pretty good with that :) Just email and explain. Here's my email thread:

***

Yes! you may book the appointment in April; on the day of the interview we need a written signed statement from the petitioner and beneficiary that he/she intents and is legally capable to marry within 90 days after the beneficiary’s admission to the United States (signed within last 30 days from the appointment date).

Good morning,

Okay, so in essence, even though my petition expires in December, if I wait until say April to book my interview, it will be okay? Do you need anything in writing from myself or my fiancé to reaffirm our intentions in the meantime? (I know I'll need the statement of intent to marry again once interview time rolls around.)

Thanks for your help, hope you're having a great day!

Good morning,

In response to your letter sent October 17, 2013, I was wondering if it is possible or what would be required to extend the petition approval at all? As it stands, I believe the petition approval expires in December, and sadly I have had no luck in selling my house, and may not be able to move down before the K-1 itself expires.

If extensions are possible, is it easier to extend the petition approval, or the K-1 itself?

Please let me know.

Thanks, hope you're having a great day.

That is what I was hoping. It is frustrating that they just put the wrong city on it. They should know that it will confuse people. I have the email in to Vancouver and waiting on their response so we will see. I heard they generally respond quickly so I hope a response today or tomorrow from them.

Agreed.

When I booked my interview it said Montreal as well, but my case number started with VAC. The interview was in Vancouver, but for whatever reason it just said Montreal online.

I also noticed that their forms or info sheets were out of date. On the 'checklist' it says to have money ready to pay for the fee's, but we actually paid them before booking the interview. They really should update it though. I did found the people in the Vancouver office are very nice, even via email. They are speedy. Sometimes only taking a few hours to respond.

I heard back from Vancouver and like Lights mentioned, they did receive my case. I am good there. I also asked them about extension, but their answer was a little wishy washy, so now getting them to confirm if I am planning to book an interview in Dec/Jan, but my validity runs out at the end of September, should I submit my DS-160 before September or should I wait a bit on it so it isn't outdated.

Interesting that their stuff is out dated... It takes a long, long time to change things in government. Too bad they don't have a feedback survey!

Agreed that they seem pretty prompt and pleasant so far.
