Change of last name at POE

Italy doesn't allow me to change my last name to my married name, therefore we thought I could never change my last name...little did we know that I could have change it by putting it on the thousands of form we filed, so now I was told that I might have a last chance before having to file for a card replacement and spend $450....

Is it true that when I reach POE I will be taken to a small processing room and at that time I will be able to request to change my nane to my married name or am I dreaming?

I would also like to know the answer to this because I'm wanting to change my last name as well. I couldn't do that in the forms because the embassy said I had to use the name in my passport.

Visa comes in passport name

Green card comes in visa name.

However, you can change the green card after arrival in the USA. If you don't do it at the time you remove conditions, you can pay $450 to get a new green card in your new name. However if you book any travel outside the USA, I highly suggest booking in passport name and bringing your marriage certificate as proof of who you are when you reenter the USA.

You can also wait until the time which you remove your conditions to change your name.

Also when you get state ID or an SSN you can bring your marriage certificate and request those ID pieces to be in your married name.
