Senator doesn't want to help...now what?

So I have been working with the Congressman's office in my district and I am not getting a response from them, I feel the need to take it to another level since it has been almost 3 months. I called the Senator for my district and they told me that they could not help me because it was a federal issue and not a state issue. They refused to even try. Am I out of luck? Can I contact a Senator which is not in my district? :help:

Ok I got Barbara Boxer's office to help me, hopefully. I faxed them everything but they said it takes 2-3 weeks just to get assigned to a case worker.

JP -- I don't really have any advice for you, but I want you to know I'm praying for you guys. You have been waiting such a long time.... wayyyy too long.

Insha'allah contacting Barbara Boxer will help finally get 'er done.

From what I have seen JP, once the senator gets involved (the ones that are willing to help) things seem to move. Although they are not able to 'do' anything specific, it seems the mere asking what is taking so long gets someone's attention. I hope it works for you. I have a whole bag full of yellow dancing guys and i want to give some away. :D

I contacted my senator as well and was told 2 weeks to get assigned, but got a letter in less than 10 days saying they had sent the info to Casa. Maybe that's just a timeline to protect themselves.

I have Senator's office and Congress Woman's office on this.... and still waiting and waiting and waiting!

Hope you have better luck with them then me, JP!

U.S. Senators are different from your state Senators. Most people don't know that. It shouldn't take 2 weeks or more to get assigned a case worker. They say that long to cover themselves, but it usually happens much faster than that.

FWIW: Barbara Boxers office helped us a lot when we ran into trouble with the AOS. Well, let me rephrase that. It took a little while to get the ball rolling with her office but when we did we got results. Of course I cant be certain that it was her office's intervention but I do believe that having a senator liason look into your case helps.

good luck

Thanks everyone for your help and replies. I did send off my info to Barbara Boxer's office a couple of days so maybe that will be more helpful than the Congressman I have been working with.

His office didn't really seem to care and justified all the BS because of the fact that he is coming from the Middle East. They basically just want to close the case and they have not even recieved a response from the Embassy yet. Hopefully I can get better info from the Senator's office but I suppose it will be better because some info is better than no info!
