hi everyone

we havent got married yet but are trying to consider the best option

i am confused with some of the info i have read online

if we get married first and apply for cr-1 when i return to my country, am i not allowed visit the USA (as tourist) until the visa is approved 8+ months later?

Yes you are allowed to visit. But you will need to show ties to your country to convince the CBP officer you won't overstay.

thanks I don't have a job so is there anything else I can use to prove I'll return home

That's a red flag, but you can try.

bring your noa1 notice and anything other pertinent papers proving your doing this the correct way, a return ticket, lease or mortgage statements, utility bills, car loan, school registration papers, medical appointments, children or care givers support documentation, any bills showing you have term commitments with penalties should you cancel eg cell phone bill

basically anything that shows you have ties in Ireland..

should you travel with a heavy load (eg most precious and valuable possession and load of clothes, etc) then it could look like you are trying to immigrate permanently.

Ireland is not a high risk country so you shouldn't have trouble if your prepared and bring sufficient documentation.
