i can't remember if i posted this already only because i am completely stressed out and can't find my old posts...

so sorry if i asked

but on the G-235a form it says to list your past 5 years of addresses... i lived in the UK for 5 months but have no record of m y old address. i can rememeber the street and city but not the number. can i make one up? are they really going to check all addresses?

If it were me, if to the best of my ability, in order to answer to the question the answer is unknown, then I would state state it accordingly. I would rather explain it than omit. That is me and YMMV.

You don't have any receipts or letters or credit card statements or anything like that, that could have the info on it? How about contacts, or write to the landlord or something.

When the Government does a background check I think they look at addresses you give them.

Is the number that important?

Couldn't you just include street, city, (state), country and leave it at that - if you can't remember?

I wouldn't make it up.

here's another question i'll ask then...

i've never changed my permanent address with the post office....officially, when i've moved a few times. i've always kept it my parents address. even to this day. do i have to include all places i've had leases at anyway?

Is the USPS the official keeper of someone's address to fulfill the requirement on the form?

Going back to your previous question, it says on the G325A to put in your last address outside the U.S. for more than a year. So maybe you don't need to include it?

The G325A instructions ask for your residence for the last 5 years, I would say use your judgment on that.

It does say to include addresses for more than a year... but it also says the last addresses of residence for the past five years. i figured it would be regardless of where you were. and i was in london for five months during the last five years.

im so confused about this. and whether to put apartments i've rented but never officially changed my permanent address with the usps. ugh what to do

What address was on your driver's lisence for all this time you moved around? When you lived in the UK for 5 months did you give you your place in the US? If you had a residence in the US while you were in the UK, couldn't you have been staying there for 5 months nor living there?

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Canada
Timeline

I understand the complication of maintaining 2 addresses. Sometimes I just didn't know what to put and a lot of I-129F books just dismissed address questions as "self-explanitory." I guess I would just include all of my places of actual residence (meaning, all the addresses you lived at) in the past 5 years, including ones you only lived a few months at. If you can't remember the exact addresses then the street, city and time you lived there is probably enough. At least that way there won't be any questions about gaps in the timeline or anything. I can't imagine this question is of uttmost importance though.. i'm assuming its just to get sense of where you've been before. I'm kinda of in the same boat (I live in Canada but my permanant address has always been the same as my parents' in the US) and to question A2 in the I129F form I included a supplement that explained that I could be reached at my address in canada, but still technically maintain my parents address as my permenant residence. I just filed so I don't know how this goes down, but at least I feel at peace of mind at having explained it to the USCIS.

Don't stress over this one too much though. If you don't include some information and they need it they'll ask you for it, I assume. Just don't lie or make things up.

For the 5 months in London, I think you can treat is as 'just visiting' and put your parents address for that time period. If you have the rest of the addresses just put in were you resided. If they were apartments that you rented put those in cause they have those on your financial record somewhere.

I don't know if this applies for Visas, probably does, but if you apply for a job that requires some sort of clearance they check those addresses to see if you had some sort of criminal background there or financial problems and stuff.

i've always wondered what they check in background checks. i had one recently for a job i applied to (and got, whew) ;)

i don't know if i can get the rest of the addresses........i have them written no where for sure. my only hope is my old roommate. ugh.

When you apply for apartments you list the previous places you rented right? Maybe you can find one of those apartment applications? Dig it up once, the best you can do, then keep the sheet somewhere, cause I find I always end up needing this list in the future. So once you got them you nerver again have to fret about it.
