I wish you should not get one this time.....

Yes, they retained my passport.....

Keeping your passport seems to be a sign that it will be a short one.

I guess i have figured out the reason for AP to me.

May be its a Visa Mantis check ------ I work as a Computer Programmer (developer) from last 7 years... and got transferred from the same employer to different countries.... I am not sure but i guess this profession comes under TAL (Technology Alert List).... and that is why they need AP to consult advisor in the US.

I have this feeling caz CO asked me specifically about my job during interview and then afterwards, my current occupation details and countries that i visited (along with addresses) were taken on a paper without any demand of any additional document.

But again then, anyone have any idea about VISA MANTIS CHECK????

congrats on new baby!

We bought our flights, if his visa does not come in time, or if he gets AP we will have to pay a 400$ change flight fee to our travel agent. Ick. Fingers crossed

I am having that little feeling in my stomach/anxiety maybe... so that is the main reason why I am not booking the flight ahead.

I just don't want to take my chances.

Thank you both for your answers! I am feeling anxious too. I feel like I'm going to jinx it if I book in advance lol! Maybe I should look for a flexible ticket, it should be still less expensive than last minutes tickets. A $400 fee is annoying though, plus the price difference I guess... Arghhh I found a one-way non-refundable ticket at 500 euros - vs 1500 if I was leaving next week. My husband tells me to wait though :-/

He is a US citizen, lived in the UK, now moved back to the US. I am French, we met in 2010 in the UK and got married in March 2013 in France.

Keeping your passport seems to be a sign that it will be a short one.

yeah, hope so.

I have come across some profiles on VJ where it was mentioned that their passports were given back along with AP letter and may be in those cases a detailed investigation was required.

@ALL on VJ: PLEASE CHECK TAL (TECHNOLOGY ALERT LIST), if your profession does falls in this category, there is a high risk of getting an AP....

At least you're not dealing with 6 tickets Kuwait-Denver as I would when the time comes. $8,000-$10,000 if I book 4 months in advance. Can't do it though... I'm an AP magnet.

Hope I just made you feel a little better about your situation. ;)

What does Technology Alert List means? I also work in IT and have been in few other countries including the US as a result of my profession. I will like to know more bcos AP is one thing I wouldnt want to go through.
