My wife needs a new passport before her July 21 interview, and the Russian government says she'll have it within 30 days, so we should be okay. But they said they will now translate her name as Nadezhda in the new passport, while her old passport shows Nadezda. Since I used the old passport throughout this process, does anyone know if there will be a problem when she shows up at the interview with a new passport showing a different spelling of her name? She'll bring the old passport as well to show what happened.

Someone should invent a "Visajourney" or "Immigration to US" game. All the tidbits and stuff we get. Make it a game. One wrong move and Visa prison you go. Ir may be 30-6-90 days. OMG I am brainstorming now (do they pay us at work to do this. LOL)

Do you know how long it took for your file to be shipped to the embassy?

My petition left 11 days after interview assigned (I had requested my marriage certificate be pulled out and sent to me). Once shipped took 4 days and signed by Ben Obi.

I think people wait for it to get to the embassy and ask for an earlier date there. The reason could be because some people reschedule so the embassy will be able to tell if another date opens open. That's what I think I might of read. July 9th is good but it doesn't hurt to call the embassy once it arrives

9 working days from IL email for us. DHL showed delivered after 3-4 working days. Embassy claims they only had our case files about 13 working days after DHL delivery. Kinda like the NVC where they received it but it sits in a warehouse waiting to get processed.

I made a mistake of scheduling an interview ~2 weeks after DHL delivery date. Just a word of caution to people who want to reschedule to an earlier date.

Okayyyyy... I'm officially here!!! Waiting for an interview date to be assigned! :dancing:

Question: Should my husband schedule his medical already or wait for the interview date/letter? He lives in Portugal, not Paris where the interview will be, so I can't find on the NVC site where he can go for a medical in Portugal because it states that the US Consulate doesn't schedule interviews there (which I knew).

You know that would be one of the most boring game evers considering 99% of the time spent from start to end is waiting. the other 0.5% is on hold at NVC and 0.5% is actually doing stuff.

lol :P

Always double check your documents and forms. Not only do you get delayed by RFEs and Checklists, but the time it takes for them to review the new items you send could be used to approve more applications. Save yourself and others valuable time!

Current Status: NVC:
-Assigned and Received NVC Case Number, IIN, and BIN April 18, 2014. (100% sure case # was assigned today because I called twice and it wasn't assigned in the morning when they opened but in the afternoon it was)
*Could not provide email then as case was still being updated in their system
-On April 21, 2014 I was able to provide my email and beneficiary's.
-On April 28 I was able to fill out DS-261
-On April 29 I received and paid AOS Fee (at 1pm)
-On May 1 I received and paid IV Fee (at 1pm [became available]), also AOS Fee shows as PAID
-On May 5 IV Fee shows as PAID and DS-260 became available and was completed. Also, AOS Package Scanned by NVC

-On May 7 IV Package Scanned by NVC

-On May 28 AOS Accepted

-On June 2 IV Accepted/Case Complete

-On June 11 Interview Email Received

-On July 3 Interview at Moscow

Note: Medical Exam scheduled after interview letter received by calling the specific clinic, earliest appointment was 2 weeks ahead)

-Visa approved, came to us, got greencard, sadly things didnt go well and divorced. Last I hears she was still in the US and got a full greencard (I notified USCIS of divorce though)
