AtariBaby it sure is nice to see others' progress to figure out whether it's time to freak out or not. I am just soooo ready to be done with the whole immigration process. I have already looked at the forms and evidence required for naturalization next year.

Well, given your nickname, I probably can't do much to sway you. But everyone from VJ.com to struggling immigrant friends of mine, in much more difficult spots than I, state that this step is pretty much a foregone conclusion. Even in really bad scenarios I think just about everyone gets this, provided two people can show up lol.

The goal here is just to make it go as swiftly and effortlessly as possible. And given your nickname, I'm betting you made sure your packet was flawless. And hopefully there will be no RFE's or interviews for anyone in this thread!

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

02/25/2011 Married!

03/19/2012 FINALLY submitted the AOS paperwork: I-130, I-485, I-765, etc.

03/23/2012 Received notification that USCIS has received everything.

03/26/2012 Biometrics Appointment Notice: April 23, 2012.

04/02/2012 NOA's received. Now we wait...

04/23/2012 Biometrics completed.

05/18/2012 EAD card mailed but not yet received.

06/06/2012 Rough interview but we think we're approved! Website says i485 status "Card Production".

06/12/2012 We received the "Welcome the United States" letters! Website says Green Card was mailed.

LIMBO: Green card lost in mail. Facing the possibility of paying hundreds in fees and basically repeating the entire process.

All good now! USPS lost it, then found it.

04/24/14 Back to VJ to get help with I-751, Removal of Conditions.

05/31/14 Mailed I-751 finally, with less than a week to deadline!

06/02/14 NOA1 (that was fast!)

07/01/14 Biometrics

7/25/14 Approved for Removal of Conditions

You can add me to June filers. I sent my package on 27th of May and delivered on 30th of May. But they didnt cash the check yet or anything should I be concerned about that?

Don't worry. Your check will be cash soon. :) My check was cashed after 20 days of submission.

Added myself to the list after sending the application packet out yesterday. Now just the frustrating waiting.

welcome.gif to the waiting game.

It's nice not to be alone on this "visa journey".

And given your nickname, I'm betting you made sure your packet was flawless.

The problem is that I am a lawyer and a highly risk-averse one at that. I did put together a logically organized 4-inch thick stack of paper that includes everything me and my husband (also a lawyer) could think of. It's just that neither of us handles waiting very well. I am used to reassuring my clients that everything is under control and proceeding well, and then I worry about their case. I am a professional worrier used to thinking through all possible worst case scenarios. I decided to register to play the waiting game with others and get some group reassurance. :)

I do also hope that the process goes smoothly for everybody on this thread.

Hi guys I'm almost done with putting the package together, do you guys know if the affidavits are a good idea, I know they are not required but my friend wrote a letter but she is not a citizen and my mom also wrote a letter (she is a citizen)...is that ok? what's the norm for these affidavits? Also, I'm the owner of the house where we live, can I just send them a copy of my mortgage statement?

Here is the list of the stuff we are sending:

Tax returns 2 yrs,
joint account (checking and savings) bank statements 2 months

life insurance policies

car insurance policies

copies of joint credit cards

2 affidavits

phone, tv bills

copy of my mortgage statement (just in my name)

pictures of us together in different places and with family

Thoughts are appreciated

Thanks

I am only going by what others have said:

Seems that affidavits aren't that big of a deal. Maybe good to use if you don't have much other evidence.

I don't think there is a need to include mortgage or similar if it only has you on it. They are looking for evidence you both live together, so unless you are putting her one some papers, what's the point?

That's a lot of good stuff with both of your names on accounts and bills. I think that's a big deal. Good stuff!

You need tax return transcripts, not just copies of your returns that you submitted.

Some pictures are probably good although again, I think they mainly want to see that you two are sharing financial stuff. I gather that sham marriages rarely keep it together well enough to pull that off.

I think the idea is to make it clear and easy for the examiner to know what's what. Kind of a little insurance against error or what have you. I have read here about positive feedback from actual examiners who appreciated clear and orderly packets. It's probably fine, though. Be sure to post the result.

Hi sch7, what is the Receipt Date on your NOA letter? If it's on May, you are a May filer ;)

You need tax return transcripts, not just copies of your returns that you submitted.

You can get the transcripts online. It takes some time to go through the registration process on the IRS website and some struggle with the browser if you use a Mac (I ended up downloading Firefox just to download the files), but definitely beats waiting for couple of weeks to have them mailed.

Last week IRS was having a lot of problems with their website. Should you be unable to download them through the site, you or a CPA can call them and request they be faxed. They will say it takes 48 hours but it takes 4 or 5 hours after you call.
