Happy Friday everyone,

Just a quick question regarding translations. I am translating my husband's documents for the IV packet just in case, although in theory it shouldn't be needed. My husband's cousin, who is an English teacher in Vzla, did a rough translation of the police certificate, which he e-mailed to me. We agreed that I would review and correct it, and then certify the correctness of the translation myself, as I am also competent to translate. He was just helping out to save me time. The question is, he made a fancy copy with the government seals on the page, and I don't have a way to do that with my husband's birth certificate and our marriage certificate, which I will be translating. In you all's expert opinion would it be better to make a copy of it without all the official looking seals so that it matches the other two? Although he did do a nice job and it looks very official.

Any input appreciated. Thanks!

If you can make it through this, (If anyone could make it through this hell) then you can make it through anything! I think a lot of people in LDRS are less selfish than the ones who aren't. I know that I, for one, never took my wife for granted, and I knew it was going to be a lot of work. It was hard, too patient, and heartache, but when you are going through it together, and supporting each other, it makes it worth it. My wife and I were discussing this the other night. We were talking about how we've gone through a lot of stress and hell through being apart, jobs, families, etc.. We realised that this was hardest 2 1/2 years of our lives, but hopefully because of this (everything will seem easier!). I'm hoping so..! Plus, we try saying that we're still here, because who knows.. We might be waiting for the perfect job to come along, or the perfect house, it's all about timing right? :). I give kudos to everyone who stuck by their loved ones through this process, and worked hard for it. It really proves to you how strong you all are!

They do email when the AOS invoice and DS-261 are available. I've heard of people having luck getting into the site before the email, I did, but only a couple of mins before the email so think it was just coincidence I logged in when I did. If you are getting error messages, this is normal (checks Saylin's wiki for more detail on the first post in this thread). If you wanted to double check the Invoice number I'd just call back each day and say that you think you've been given an incorrect case or invoice number can they please confirm it. Some of them don't like giving out the Invoice number over the phone though. Whatever you do, make sure they have both your email addresses so you both get notified of the AOS invoice and DS-261 form.

Oh, one last thing, your case number and Invoice number will be on that email.

thank you I'm getting worried since nvc is telling different case received dates I guess I just need to be more patient thanks

Happy Friday everyone,

I don't think there is any issue with translating the documents yourself  And I don't think it would matter if the three docs have different formats. I really don't think that the embassy will look at the translations, but it is good idea to provide them just in case (specially for NVC).

In case that the translations are stapled to the doc, I'd recommend putting a sticky note on them, saying that the original doc is attached after the translation - These NVC agents could believe that you only submitted the translation and checklist you for not sending originals (ugh)!

Good luck!! I'm glad that your husband could get the apostille on time :D

I hope its good news!... what date was your AOS scanned

AOS was approved on Jun 18th.. I was waiting on the IV documents to be reviewed which was scanned in on May 27. Apparently if AOS is changed from Paid to N/A, it means there is a chance your case is being completed. ! NVC is soo busy.. I cannot get through today.

good news!
