Just to be on the safe side, fill out I-864 and put $0 as total income for you for all the years since you did not work and write a letter explaining that you did not work because you were a student.

Also, have your dad fill out I-864a and don't forget to send all supporting documents as if you were sending AoS packet fresh. This way, you will be sure your packet is complete in case they don't agree with your joint sponsor filling out I-864 not I-864a.

If you look on page 196 on the thread, a VJ member advised me not to do the 864a and go for a separate 864 without linking my 864 with my dad.

I am totally confused as to what I should do. I definitely don't want to get checklisted twice as its pushing back my wife's arrival.

Can anyone shed light to this??

They said that they have to review all packages before they send the completed packet to the embassy.

Our package scanned in June 4th will not be reviewed until July 1st at the EARLIEST. If they sent it to Sydney the next day or day after, it would be arriving on the 8th or 9th, the 8th would be the interview.

And that is assuming a 3 week + 2 day review time, and it seems to be back logging even more now.

I was just curious of something. When filling out the DS260 it asks for a US address you intend to live at, and a contact at that address. Has anyone ever heard of the NVC or DOS actually calling them to ask questions?

Can't answer your question, but you could put in a US address while ticking Not Applicable to the person living there. That's what I did as our US address is currently vacant and awaiting us. I also put in my internet base US phone number which I carry with me around around the world.

My best guess is, they use the name to add it as c/o in the address line, to make sure the postman would not return the packet to sender being an official USCIS document.

In any case, you can update/change the address at the interview or POE.

I sent my checklist for original birth certificate and marriage certificate. It was scanned in on May 13th. I called last thrusday and was told my case was complete. Today I get a letter saying the case is complete and an interview is scheduled for July 3rd, but the letter states to bring the original marriage certificate and birth certificate to the interview. So I call the NVC to tell them I sent these documents already as part of the checklist. The lady tells me that if the checklist isnt reviewed by the time they send the case to the embassy, the documents will be sent back to me. I dont understand. Why would they give me a case complete and schedule the interview if they havent reviewed the checklist ?

I'm sure someone has dealt with this while I slept, but just in case (and before I read 10 pages) No. You said your hubby was making over the poverty threshhold. That, regardless of whether or not he worked a full year last year, is what they're concerned with. I meant you wouldn't have to submit earlier tax years (which you don't have anyway). You will have to submit proof that he is still working at a job that keeps him over the poverty level, as on the i864p. Hence the pay stubs. If it's close to the wire, the NVC may still ask for a joint sponsor. But if you are confident that you will qualify without one, go ahead and submit.

I've been bumped off flights (and Westjet doesn't bump people), in my experience their flights are delayed or just late way more often than Westjet, and the fact that they continually get federal bailouts, they are still powerful enough to bury all but their most determined competition. It may be because I remember the very beginnings of Westjet, but I have found them much more friendly, customer-service oriented, and willing to go the extra mile to make a good impression.

Also, to use the example of yesterday... Now, as I said, the rep I spoke to was very nice, and I told her that.... But the situation was: hubby goofed up booking a flight home to visit his Mom. (wrong return date, by a month). So he cancelled the second flight and took a "credit" and took the train back to me. So now we're planning a trip this summer, and thought "great! we have a credit!" so I called, waited 45 minutes on hold, only to find out that due to the "Change fee", using the credit would actually cost me $75 more! Yes, the change fee was $75 more than the entire credit. So I asked her why noone had warned us about this. She said she didn't know. I escalated, and told the supervisor that this situation feels like really bad customer service to me. He was not helpful at all, so we're just out the money for the credit.

The thing is, hubby's mom would have been thrilled to see him again, and if we had known that we were basically throwing that money away by "taking the credit" we probably would have sent hubby back down on the train and fly back, a month later. And made some mom points in the bargain.

This is the kind of customer service (or lack thereof) I've come to expect from Air Canada. Rant over.

Holy cow no wonder you feel the way you do I don't blame you at all. I hate American Airlines they are so rude and nasty you would think they are paying for your flight.

Then i asked agian --um from egypt and the docs will be in arabic --

He said it ok sent it in arabic

What a humbling experience, not to often do I feel that a situation is totally out of my control, sometimes I just want to resist the temptation to call and the temptation to read about how all of our cases are progressing.... it is literally like watching paint dry, or grass grow...

the closer you get the slower it feels.

Congrats to all who have interview dates-- the CC will just be another step having the interview date will make the last time so much more bearable-- I know you all know what I mean, the longer you are here the more you understand the more you are humbled.

some of the messengers are so cold how they just deliver the 30 day spiel, I know its not personal and I know they have no stake in the game, but I just try and try to WILL the process to move forward and it wont- I think I am going NuTz.
