Oh yes, we bought the pattern and fabric a couple weeks ago and cut it all out. Now to sew. I think it is a good skill to give our daughters to sew and sons come to think of it. She is threading the machine at the moment.

On 3rd July hubby is flying in from New York to Sydney. We are flying to Sydney from Adelaide, meeting at the terminal and then all flying up to Hamilton Island in the Whitsunday Islands off Queensland to lounge by a pool for a week and drink margaritas. Well mum and dad anyway. Then hubby goes back to NY, we come back to Adelaide and back to this wonderful visa journey. Hopefully by then our IV package will be received and we can get this show on the road.

That sounds soooo amazing. Pool, hubby, kids, drinks, relaxation, love , joy.... Enjoy every moment. (L)

Ok maybe today I will win the stupid question award, still figuring all of this out since I am only now waiting for a case number to be assigned...

Everybody keeps looking for updates on their cases based on the date their documents were scanned in...

What exactly does it mean for documents to be scanned in and how would you find out that date? Cheers!

You have to call NVC to find out when they received the case or your AOS or IV packages. They will say something like, "we recived your xxx on such and such date". I wish they would automatically update this information on their website ... but as of now they don't. Lot of unnecessary tel calls could have been eliminated that way.

Has anyone ever heard of an American Certified Copy of a Marriage License being checklisted? Or were the checklists for foreign Marriage Certificates?

My marriage certificate was from the USA and a certified copy and it got checklisted. But, I think it's because it didn't "look" official. It was from a small county and all it is is two pieces of white paper stapled together with a raised seal on it. I've seen other certified copies on fancy paper with color and seals and such. That's probably what they're used to.

Thanks for the response lucybelle.

Our marriage certificate sounds like it looks EXACTLY like yours :( Ours is just a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of white paper with a raised seal.

I now have two originals that I ordered in case I do get checklisted, did you respond to the checklist with an original?

You have to call NVC to find out when they received the case or your AOS or IV packages. They will say something like, "we recived your xxx on such and such date". I wish they would automatically update this information on their website ... but as of now they don't. Lot of unnecessary tel calls could have been eliminated that way.

Thanks! I thought maybe once you get a case number to log in with, then that info would be visible, you are right it could spare them and all of us a lot of phone calls. That helps me know what to expect though, which I appreciate :-)

We got married in Seattle and our marriage certificate is hand-written (not typed) with a certified seal plus a judge's signature.

Do you think it should be typed? I don't know if I can get any other ones. I'm calling the King County Marriage License office tomorrow to see if they issue a typed marriage certificate.

Submitted the AOS documents today! (Which is a nice thing about EP... I can submit when I'm ready) Excited and terrified... I've checked it 100 times and caught a few mistakes (recent posts about getting checklists for I864 page 7, for instance!) but at some point, you have to call it done, stop freaking out and submit!

I checked to make sure the pdfs are not protected. The only thing I wonder about that is if those "fillable" pdf forms might respond that way (some of the tax forms, for example, I copied directly from the computer rather than printing them and then scanning them back in, when they didn't need a signature). I guess we'll see if that bites me in the a$$. Hope not!

Hope this week brings good things for all of us: Interviews, case completes, IV fee invoices, AOS fee invoices, DS261s, case numbers... Lots of luck and love to everybody.

Is your timeline updated?

Ok maybe today I will win the stupid question award, still figuring all of this out since I am only now waiting for a case number to be assigned...

Everybody keeps looking for updates on their cases based on the date their documents were scanned in...

What exactly does it mean for documents to be scanned in and how would you find out that date? Cheers!

We tend to forget there are new members joining all the time and we blindside them with loaded words: false checklist ... call NVC ... scanned ... Arthur !

Scanned? Not sure I know that one for certain.

US marriage certificates do look like grade school awards for perfect attendance LOL. Mine is the same and I just sent it off to NVC last night. At least it has the names and signatures of the judge and witnesses.

Hi AustinCanada,

There is no tried and true rule, unfortunately.

The directions clearly state to provide a certified copy or an original. But yet, when you provide a certified copy you can still be check listed. Another inefficient, unnecessary and stressful way that NVC works.

I think it depends on the reviewer. If they have seen a certified copy like yours before, they may be okay with it. Mine looks exactly like lucybelle's but I may or may not be check listed for mine.

Good luck!

I know what you mean about checking it 100 times, Julia!

I'm FedExing my AOS package tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Hi nightingale joules

Glad you got that AOS out of the door - or into cyberspace at least.

I am thinking you are still waiting for your IV invoice. Is that correct? Let's hope it is our week.
