3 days after interview and I am just now checking in.

First off, thank you to everyone who has congratulated my husband and me, and second, congratulations to all those case completes and those who have recieved interview dates.

Interview review:

We arrived in Ciudad Juarez on Sunday around 6pm. On Monday my husband left for his medical around 5am. (No appointment, you can just show up.) I waited for him at our hotel because of our 8 month old. He got back around 7:20am.

We went back at 2pm and picked up his results. On Tuesday his ASC appointment was at 7:20am. He left around 6:50 and was back around 7:20, so it was pretty fast.

Wednesday he left for his interview at 8:45. (9:15am interview) We waited for him at a nearby Denny's for breakfast. At 11:30 he got there with an APPROVAL!

Note: I made a folder for him with everything we submitted to NVC and a couple more things, and he was asked for the ONE thing he didn't take: MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE. But the officer told him not to worry about it and told him he was approved.

Next day during lunch around 2pm, his passport was at the DHL ready for pickup. We went to the border for port of entry, crossed over to Texas, and by 5am Friday morning we were in Houston.

Having my husband here feels like a dream. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way even if just to say they understood how I was feeling. Hang in there guys! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

wow CONGRATULATIONS so very happy for you what a nice easy few days wow, wow wish that could be our case. :)(F)(L)(F)

GOOD NEWS: as of June 6,2014 our case was completed!!! Now I'm curious. Are all baddies done scheduling July interview? We are at the Londoj embassy. Anyone at the London embassy who got their case complete the first week of the month?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing:

I emailed them yesterday (6/6/14) requesting more info as to what I am supposed to do next as they keep sending DS-261 Checklists to me, we'll see what they say. Hope they will get their :ranting: together pretty soon. As of right now I am going to leave INCOMPLETE as is and wait for their answer. I cant call them any more because the crazy wait period ate all my 700 min on my Verizon cell phone  and I always get the same answer like, : "We have both DS-261's and they are under review. It will take us 30 business days".. and so long and so forth, I'm sure everyone is familiar with that one lol

BTW did anyone else get DS-261 Checklist before?

Personally, I don't think I've heard of a DS261 checklist

hello guys i got a massive checklist for my AOS. It was filled by my attorney, its really disappointing how many mistakes he made.

[...]

:wow: Shame on your attorney!

Use those check lists, and go to each point commented on that has a specific concern identified.

(It's hard to help without knowing how many applicants, etc etc)

Do what you can to make those corrections and read the 864 instructions for some clarity, then come back to us with a few specific questions that you can't sort out on your own :luv:

Ok asking a favor please, you know sometimes we just can't think because of this process and we are so scared we have to ask question that might be answered in the Wiki but it just doesn't register. We are all different and for one I know I'll suck at the I-864.

So please answer this question for Njordan and God will reward you. I think this is the question below.

"Filed taxes as single, but had no idea that we could file MFS AND PUT NRA. I just read on this website. What should I do? If I had to amend it when can I ? Should I just wait til next year when wife comes and has SSN ? Should I do it before her interview? If she's asked should she just

Thank you soloenta

Ok I have to be honest, I love awards and this question I'm going to ask might just win me the coveted Stupid Question Award. :D

My AOS shows Paid so I'm guessing it means NVC has the money and I can now fill out the form. Is there a link to NVC for the form or is it ok to get if from the forms at let's say for example the Embassy website? I thought it had to be from NVC.

The I-864 form is actually on USCIS's website ;) That's the only place I'd suggest downloading it from as that will be the most up to date form.

I agree Saylin. Whilst our attorney sourced all Forms when I started the whole process - naively - on our own I sourced all information from USCIS website. Goodness me, if they aren't up to date who is!

Just read Saylins WIki posts and work through it all slowly, making sure you have all the required documentation otherwise you could set yourself back a month with checklists.

I'd like to double check one thing: You sign the I-864 form in black ink, correct? :huh2:

I read the I-864 instructions and it states, "Type or print legibly in black ink."

However, http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms states, "When signing forms, sign in BLUE ink. Do not sign in red, do not sign in black, sign in blue. Signing in black ink might make the officer think the form isn't an original, but a photocopy." :bonk:

I'm confused! :help:

I never could understand the US authorities' fixation on using black ink. I wish someone could explain why?

Not very nice since the "petitioners" you are talking about is someone else's spouse. Maybe people like being married to "blithering idiots" as you say. And I'm actually being serious lol.

A bit forward I know, and I did consider the OP might be the petitioner so I'm guilty of worse than you think. Nothing the OP said hints that this fault applies to either of them. However, I do hope what I said will give them pause to consider all pros and cons of bringing the petitioner to such a critical interview.

And, we all have our own faults and eccentricities. When it comes to her own personal finances, my economics professor of a wife is a blithering idiot (phobic, more like it). I'm the same when tact is warranted at certain situations. Just the other day, I couldn't stop myself from snapping at a young professor who wasted an hour of my Dean's and my time arguing a matter that was concluded during the first 5 minutes of the meeting.

OMG hahahaaaa great way to put it!

We're here to help and dish out some tough love every now and then. I wish I got some tough love when I first arrived to the States for my grad school, but that is another story(s)

Just another update:

My husband mailed our checklist response today and hopefully it'll arrive at NVC before the end of next week.

I'm really praying and hoping for no other checklist and case complete soon.

So I woke up this morning to find that my face has been hijacked by posion ivy thanks to my lovely cat. Like seriously, this makes me rethink being a cat lady. Just had to add that tidbit after our conversation about being cat ladies.
