So, my fellow June filers, in amongst the progress reports I'm curious to know a little more about you. Allow me to introduce myself:

I'm Damian P from Southampton in England. I originally came over to the U.S. on a K-1 fiancé visa in March, 2009. The entire process (I-129, AOS, ROC) was plain sailing and RFE free. Sadly, my USC wife passed away suddenly only 8 months after we'd got married and as you can imagine, things got a little hectic for a while, but I opted to remain in the states and make it my home. Now, more than five years on, I'm re-married to.............wait for it...............an English gal! I know, right? All the women in America and I fall for a lass from my own country! And so after naturalization, the circle will be complete - I'll be filing as a USC petitioner for my foreign spouse. You couldn't make it up!

So what's your story, guys?

Great initiative, DamianP!

I'm alix from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My USC husband and I met in Brazil and got married in July 2005. I came here on a CR-1 visa in December 2006, with tons of bumps along the way because we decided to do the whole process ourselves and ended up making a few mistakes. In 2007 my husband accepted a job abroad and I kept going back and forth for almost 3 years. As a stay-at-home wife and then mom (we had two beautiful little boys during that time) I really didn't have a choice. I did my ROC in 2008 while abroad and had to deal with some more minor issues but got my 10-year GC without an interview. We officially moved back in July 2010. So here I am, trying to get my citizenship after being a LPR for 7+ years, applying based on the 3-year marriage rule.

Well it's nice to meet you, Ms Alix. And hey, don't you wish you were back in Rio right about now? I do!!!!! But anyway no soccer talk on this thread! The very best of luck to you, indeed to us both, on this, the end game of the visa journey.

And so after naturalization, the circle will be complete - I'll be filing as a USC petitioner for my foreign spouse. You couldn't make it up!

So what's your story, guys?

I am Stephanee. I am from Toronto...my daughter and I moved to Los Angeles in 1996 on a TN-Visa (I am a nurse). I met my husband in 2000 and we married in 2002. I stayed on the TN-Visa (renewing yearly) until we moved to Phoenix in 2005. We have two kids (11 and 7), as well as my daughter who is now 21. I applied for my GC in 2005 (received it in 2006). I was in no hurry to get my citizenship, but my husband wanted to make a large and frivilous purchase which I objected to... so he agreed to fund our naturalization papers so he could make his purchase (he withdrew stock from work that he is gifted each year). Hahaha... so it was quite unplanned to go ahead and do it now... but no time like the present! I knew I had to do it in the next 2 years, because my GC expires in 2016 :)

I forgot to mention... my husband is a US Citizen, as are our two sons :)

Guys,

Got below email and text today.

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On June 17, 2014, we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results

listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current

processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.
