Lost Medical Records - Dom. Rep.

Hello everyone,

I was able to put together the list of vaccinations required for my fiancee. She went to the hospital to get her vaccination records, but they were lost during a hurricane. The hospital says there is nothing they can do. What are our options? I have searched all over for this information and tried to email/call Consultorio De Visas in Santo Domingo, but no luck getting anyone to respond or answer the phone. Are private doctors able to provide the vaccination records from when she was younger? Would they also be able to provide the needed vaccinations so that we don't have to pay $250 USD at Consultorio De Visas (would these even be accepted - I heard horror stories where they ask people to get them all over since they don't "accept those")? Is it okay to get a letter from the hospital saying they lost the records and would Consultorio De Visas accept it? Any information to get me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dont worry about record, she will go to consultorio de visas to make the medical exam and they will give her the vaccinations that she need.

I went to my medical exam without record and all was ok.

Your fiance before interview needs go to make a medical exam to consultorio de visas, that is the only place that the consulate acept .

So dont worry about that.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I just read your answer today and unfortunately she has already received some of the vaccinations from a clinic by where she lives and they updated her vaccination records to reflect this (they gave her 9 vaccinations of the total 16 required). I may wind up doing the rest of the vaccinations here at my general practitioner, since it's $250 now at Consultorias, whereas it was $110 before. I hope my insurance would cover it once she is here and under my insurance. Thanks for the responses. I'll update this post once she has her medical exam so that others will know the outcome should they find themselves in the same position. Thanks again.
